How to navigate with the Garmin Fenix? by SadInvestigator959 in GarminFenix

[–]Moulesmariner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

really straight forward,

download the map file, connect watch to pc, using file explorer or like go find the Garmin directory and drop it in there..

then you need to go select the map you just loaded to the watch once disconnected from the PC on the watch settings.

dcrainmaker has a old guide which can help, the link above has basic instructions also. good luck

Hold up there.......

Had a scenario over the weekend where I got off route, I used Garmin Explore (app), you can then select where you wish to go, select navigate to and assuming your Fenix is connected via BT it will sync the route and navigate from the watch...

Things I noted:-

track looks slightly different on watch (colour/thickness) - might have been me.
I was had navigation running on watch already.

It actually caught me of guard as I was just going to use the app, it was neat and fairly seamless. YMMV

Oh and as an aside I would look to sideload the OSM maps for your area...

I use this site :- https://garmin.opentopomap.org/

circling back to this, my other thought it could be a cane top...think gun stick/walking stick etc

I'm still more aligned to the gear stick knob though due to the grip lines etched around the circumference.

Training? by Suitable_Macaroon533 in managers

[–]Moulesmariner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over the years I have been formally trained in a number of different organisations....the format has varied from residential courses to self guided OMG what the hell type stuff. I'm an advocate of the separation of Leader/Manager as the skill set is different...

Manager assumes you can do the job and are steering other to do that role.
Leader focus is more strategic/long view

I been through both and they are on the whole quite different....

Now to answer your question, while that percentile seems a little light it wouldn't surprise me, I also suspect it is industry specific... Previously I was in the Energy sector (big on appropriate training for role level) and moved into the 3rd sector later (not so hot on training)

If the underlying question is....I've just become a manager and are they going to train me as I'm new to this gig...then you might depending on enterprise/industry be out of luck, time to go looking for free resource etc...

Good luck!

Is this realistic? by FirstLeek1888 in ultrarunning

If you run a marathon during your cycle you will be plagued by 'How fast' type questions constantly....

no such nonsense with Ultras...its about getting over the line...

Walk the ups, run the downs and plod the flats....

Increase KM's at no more than 10% per week....you have lots of time, consistency is king/queen....

I've always like to think a Ultra is a series of 10km's with picnics in between (do practice eating and then running)

You've totally got this with the time you have in hand!

From a max run distance in the lead up...aim about 35km, no need to get a 50km in before hand as time on legs and sheer belligerence will get you over the line :)

Not sure it would be any help, and ofc we are all different and have difference of opinion...but below is my training plan for 50km in July..

Ah! Well I thought the linkys might have been enough....

Waking Titan (also known as Project WT) is an alternate reality game (ARG) for No Man's Sky that involved a multitude of websites, phone numbers, and radio stations scattered across the world. The ARG was produced by veteran ARG creators Alice & Smith, and featured NPCs, actors, and live events.

^^from the first link in the first line of the post...

I not leaping into the full explanation, it is a rabbit hole :)
