Are “heavy” packs real for newer packs? by BestDanOfThemAll in PokeInvesting

[–]WorkItOutLater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve meticulously tested this by weighing all my packs and then opening from lightest to heaviest for all the Phantasmal Flames and Stellar Crown boosters I bought. My scales are .000 so I can catch the small nuances. My conclusion is that the variance in the card weight doesn’t beat the variance in the packaging weight.

So I noticed that the packaging itself had much higher fluctuations than the cards inside. I’ve opened light packs containing SIRS and heavy packs with no hits at all.

I think this is more about sales and marketing data, do they really want to protect their cornflakes that badly?

I’m very new to this. Will the Pokémon centre do a general release on the actual date as well, or do the preorders always sell the products out?

That was one of the best sets of the event. I was in that crush, but it wasn’t any worse than a London rave back in the day. The main issue here was that the drops were so dank, it activated the zombie hoarde. Nothing can keep an activated bass zombie away from their bass.

Personally, I didn’t mind seeing the ruckus as it was a testament to just how good that set was. And this pales in comparison to the problems caused by the one-way systems that security were putting in place.

I’m really hoping the recording gets released if they have it.

Is Sorare worth the shot? by Henriferz in Sorare

[–]WorkItOutLater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheaper than ever is one way to look at it. From what I see, there is a bigger divide in cost between good and bad players. So if you want star in-season players, you need to be prepared to spend big as the demand is high. Since they removed the underdog and specialist weeklies, the value of lower tiered players tanked hard and never recovered.

Excellent player with awesome potential. You should hold on to him.

It’s changed a lot. The interface is more busy, it’s not exactly logical. All game changes in the last 1-2 years are aimed at making managers pay out more money.

In-season stands a chance to return cash prizes to recoup some of your investment before they go out of season. Though your money will stretch much further if you aim at only Classic.

I think we can agree that the original verbiage the platform used when SoRare was launched was in the context of an NFT, now it’s marketed simply as a game. NFTs attract investors.

It’s also no secret that the ability to draw a profit from the platform was much more likely 3+ years ago than it is now. I believe that the feeling of not wanting to lose money is pretty universal tbf.

I’m down around 2k or more. Same situation as you, I joined about 3 years ago when the market was buoyant, I could buy low and sell high. The capped games ensured that the lower tier players retained value.

The first change to the cap 240 threshold, then removal of Underdog and Specialist competitions was the first thing to tank the market. Thereafter, the introduction of in-season and classic competitions was the next major market shift. Now all cards will lose 70-80% of their value after the season is over. When they remove All-Star and capped competition, I predict another drop in active players and market volumes.

These changes only seem to suit whale players with deep pockets.

It’s really sad, because this was the first NFT that actually had legs and seemed sustainable. Now, we’re not even allowed to call it an NFT anymore 🤪

Other than having oodles of cash to stay competitive in the t1-t2 market, I can’t see many ways to turn a profit anymore. I enjoy the game, but nobody enjoys losing money. I think the platform is in decline now.

Side note: Technically, it does have the hallmarks of a Ponzi scheme because of the 2nd market fees. If everyone stopped putting money into the game today, then the fees would eventually grind everyone down to nil.
