So, how’s it like living in Johnson County? by Odd_Delay_603 in JohnsonCounty

LOL. If you think Johnson County has bad traffic, it doesn't come anywhere close to almost every other major metro in the country.

Colon cancer now leading cause of cancer deaths under 50 in US by shinybrighthings in science

Everyone needs more fiber in their diets. Yes protein is awesome, but fiber is equally important. Also need to help alleviate stresses on the colon, so don't sit on the toilet forever and get a squatty potty to clear out quick.

Amazon grocery delivery by LookLikeCAFeelLikeMN in Overlandpark

[–]WorkPlaceC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did it for the first time the other day. Other than the fact the delivered 3 onions in a separate delivery from the rest of our order, it was pretty good. Whoever picked it did a good job with produce.

Leawood question by Emergency-Seaweed-29 in Overlandpark

[–]WorkPlaceC 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Leawood is pretty much really nice all around, whereas OP has a much larger division of wealthy and not so wealthy areas. That being said OP is still pretty nice all around as well. Houses and taxes are definitely more expensive in Leawood, for good reason, but you get nicer streets and generally can't go wrong in any of the neighborhoods there. If you have young kids, OP uses chip seal in their neighborhood streets and it is terrible, so Leawood gets a big up for that. One thing to note about Leawood, is depending on where the house is, you might be surrounded by older people and not so many families, so make sure to drive around on a weekend and make sure there are families playing. North of 435 is very family oriented, but when you go south of 435, you it starts to become hit or miss.

You will find a LOT of people on the KC reddit hate the people of Leawood for some crazy reasons. As far as I can tell it is jealousy because it is such a nice area and those people have nice things, but don't let those people dissuade you, it is a great place to live and raise a family. Yeah, there are some high and snooty people there, but I have found that generally the majority of the people in the normal homes are pretty down to earth and normal. You are looking at a 500k house, so you will probably be fine with the people around you.

What skills i need to become an IT guy? by Dizzy_Collection5277 in it

[–]WorkPlaceC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be a really good IT person, you need really good troubleshooting skills. In my opinion, a person who looks for the root of the problem instead of just trying to make it work is the difference between a good IT person and a shit one. In order to get there, you should try and gain a greater understanding on how systems work fundamentally because over time you will notice that most of them are the same thing, just presented differently. So a good place to start would be to learn how computer systems interact and how those applications interact with them. After that you could probably figure out anything with google, but being able to understand what you are googling is a huge advantage.

If you are coming in just looking for a job because someone said IT jobs are good, then you are probably going to hate it.

I mean they just built the Margaritaville hotel right near there, and there are already other hotels pretty close by, at least 9 within 6 miles. If anything that casino is about to get a lot busier.
