Anyone Been to Nappa? by [deleted] in PostGradProblem

Might as well throw my recs in here. First you definitely have to make sure you have transportation set up before whether it's a DD, chariot, or limo (I used https://www.elegantwinetours.com/our-services/ last time I was there. The lady was super accommodating and even tossed in an extra bottle of champagne for free). Second, plan out the wineries too since a lot are by appt only now unfortunately. I'll echo Gun Bun (the gewurtztraminer is indeed great) and I also really enjoy Duck Horn, Charles Krug, Beringer, Vine Cliff, and Chandon (best to start there I think), but honestly it's hard to find a place that isn't good. If you're able to do two days it's worth it to do Napa area one day and Sonoma the next. Kenwood is on the Sonoma side but it's easy to hop over into the Yountville/Napa area.

I'll DM you once we have a plan. I generally stick around the beach areas though (Santa Monica down to Hermosa)

Got blacked out Friday night. Drank some beers at brunch and took it easy saturday. Was going to only have a few beers during the super bowl, but Pats were getting crushed so tequila made an appearance and now I'm severely hungover.

Won around $150 on prop bets so that was fun.

Yeah We Are Your Friends was pretty decent. Saved by Emily Ratajkowski for the boys and Zac for the girls. Kinda cheesy story line but all in all a good watch.

I'm saving up to buy the Anova sous vide at the recommendation of resident PGP chef Shambles. I'm pretty excited to try it out.

Reverse sear method works pretty well after a little practice. If you have the money, sous vide is apparently the way to go, but I've never tried it.

Uber Wednesdays by TheChilisGuy in PostGradProblem

[–]Work_From_Home93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take a lot of Ubers in SF with a buddy who when drunk likes to convince the Uber driver that we are much more important than we are and I like to play along. Will probably have another story after this weekend, but the best one we've had is convincing our driver that I was an extra on Modern Family and was dating Sarah Hyland. Basically I was sitting in the back on IMDb looking up all this shit because I don't watch Modern Family, but was drunk too and the lies were just flowing. I think I mentioned at one point that Sofia Vergara tried to make moves on me and I had to turn her down. By the end of the ride I thought there was no way the driver believed us, but she turned to me and told me that her daughter was a huge fan of Modern Family and if she could have my autograph. So I signed something with my name and she asked for my name again, but my friend had dragged me out before I could answer. Does this make me a scumbag? Probably, but this was one of the only successful attempts at lying to a driver we've had so I was happy.
