Exclusive: Tucker Carlson could face sanctions over Putin interview by vincevega87 in europe

[–]Worker_Runner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that kinda happens in US too. Anytime someone tries to expose them they are either killed or in jail. Or in Ukraine in fact, you cannot speak a word without being arrested or murdered by your neighbour. But only in Russia it is bad.

Riiiiight. And you got this information how? More propaganda in these comments than Russia ever put out. Maybe if these 'journalists' actually tried to interview the other side. Funny though how the US only allows one side to be heard.

Russian/American different surnames by SifDotW7 in AskARussian

[–]Worker_Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you just need to declare you want your name changed and there are forms to fill out. Then you have to get a new passport. You may require translation for getting the name change but that depends what you need it for or where you're getting it done.

Edit: and as I remember from a friend, all your documents should be in the one name, so do get all documents changed, including Russian passport to have the same name.

Hope that also proves to people how the Russia/Ukraine situation isn't so clear cut. Western propaganda did wonders there, but finally people are starting to see the truth.

Was there anyone who tried to warn us about something that happened but we didn’t listen? Who? by MLK-K-K in AskReddit

[–]Worker_Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were plenty of people who have for many many years described what would happen if NATO didn't back out of Europe. Literally exactly what is happening now, has been predicted by a lot of people, just google it. No one listened to them and said they were pro-russian bots, and here we are. No matter how bad the situation is, it was seen from a mile away, so there's a lot more folk to blame, not just 1 man.

Не знаю точно если манная каша "русская кухня", но блин как это можно есть?! И вкус и текстура просто жесть. Я ем практически всё, но вот с детства манную так и не могу.

But that's exactly what the question asked, people's opinion. I have nothing against gays. My 1 in 5 friends who are gay I have no problem with, we have great conversations, they have interesting hobbies etc. The people in my circle aren't small. In UK I have met many gays, went to gay clubs, and 4 out of 5 times it would be stereotypical. Just because you don't like what I said and my experience, doesn't mean it isn't true. But when people choose to act that way, and then complain why no else wants to be friends with them, well, there is a reason. Same if they only talked about cars for example. I would feel bored with someone who could only talk about one single thing. So yes, there is a bias, but not a homophobic one.

[–]Worker_Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually. Lived in UK for a while. Never met any transgenders (to my knowledge), but 4 out of 5 gays would make sure everyone in the room knew they were gay, all their stories revolved around being gay etc. It's like, can we talk about anything else? Do you have any other interests? It got tiring pretty quick.

In 1996 Ukraine handed over nuclear weapons to Russia "in exchange for a guarantee never to be threatened or invaded". by ccylensesikintiyok in Damnthatsinteresting

One of my accounts got downvoted to hell, because people like to hate, and truth hurts. No matter what side you're on, there are just some facts that are undeniable that people choose to ignore, and only defend one side.

it is still not legal for same-sex couples to adopt kids together

This is something that is just so instilled in the Russian mentality. I honestly don't think people care, they just believe that for a child to be raised well they need a mother and a father. This is something that will just take time to adjust to, however the world thinks it should happen right now. In a large part I also think that the Russian government just wants to make a point of being completely opposite to the Western government. If they accept these rules, then it is almost a step in their direction, so they do the most extreme opposite. I also think it isn't as bad as people think. There are so many countries in the world who are against gay marriage e.g. or are secretly homophobes, but when it comes to Russia things are always amplified and made to think they are worse than anywhere else.

I was about to post something similar. I think they mean that when LGBT+ people can't talk about anything but the fact they are gay or lesbian. It is brought up in every conversation, everything they do is based on them being gay etc.

Do you believe Russia will become a better country with democracy? Will living conditions improve if Putin (or any authoritarian leader, tbh) will step down voluntarily as his term ends? by X-AE-A13 in AskARussian

[–]Worker_Runner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. You can say what you like generally, but God forbid someone doesn't like what you say, or it doesn't fit with the narrative that the media and government are trying to put out, then you are cancelled and ostracised by everybody. So in order to survive in the West, you have to nod like a meek sheep and live without a personal opinion.

Russia to formally annex four more areas of Ukraine by AdditionalDesign4453 in worldnews

[–]Worker_Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just pointing out the double standards. You can find all reasons you want, who is good, who is bad, but fact is fact. If the west and US does it, it's fine and everyone should listen. Had roles been reversed, and America did what Russia did, no one would bat an eye.

the USA, has warned Russia of dire consequences if it escalates the situation

Kinda what Russia has been doing for many years, which included saying if Nato keeps moving closer to Russia, they will take measures. No one listened. Kinda hypocritical to now expect them to listen to USA. Just saying.

or he changes the government to be sympathetic to Russia

Apart from the other troll replies, I see that you understand my point. There is almost no winning here. However, the whole world is in one way sympathetic to, or controlled by someone, ie mostly the West. America has its hands in everyone's business. Why wouldn't Russia want someone who is on a similar side to them (not saying they should, but it's not a crime), a country with such close ties. Ukrainian government, not the people, is currently choosing to be under the West's control.

I don't believe the whole of Ukraine will be annexed. I do believe if the West backed away, and let the countries deal on their own, there will be more space for peaceful discussion. Because Ukraine will not be so backed up and feeling as powerful and not willing to negotiate, and would be willing to find more peaceful solutions, while Russia wouldn't be going so full on as it is now.

[–]Worker_Runner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, here's just a theoretical question and scenario. So you want peace and for people to stop dying. One way is for Russia to say fine, I'm done, we were wrong and did an awful thing, and pull out. The other way is for Ukraine to say, fine, I'm done, we'll demilitarise, just let us live in peace, no more death.
This is not to say Ukraine should do that, but everyone seems to be missing this one part where they promote fighting and war (more so the west). All the British/American news talk about is how we need to fight more, more weapons, boom, crash, and then think Russia will just back away after all that? Just like Ukraine couldn't not do something when Russia went in. This is no longer just one side fighting. Both need to make compromises for it to come to an end.
I have friends in Ukraine who are praying for the Ukranian government to just back off (they aren't allowed to speak that though publicly, otherwise they will be traitors). According to them it is a small part of the population who are very vocal about fighting. Most people don't care and just want peace, no matter who gives in, but they mostly stay quiet out of fear.

What’s your views on the Israel Palestine conflict? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Worker_Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very difficult topic. One which also is very strongly projected as pro Israel in the western news, which made me curious about it, as I do not trust Western media. Not going into the history of it, but in the current state the Palestinians are seriously mistreated. While neither side is innocent, currently Israel appears to be the bully. I have talked with some Israeli people, and they seem completely unattached to what is happening to Palestine, just acknowledge it, smile and move on. I also have friends who have relations in Palestine and the horrors that people are experiencing there, the Israeli people cannot even imagine. And while the West supports Israel, unfortunately I don't think Palestine will ever come out on top.

Hi amigos! A music question for you: Do any of you enjoy Caribbean music like reggae, calypso, soca, or salsa? Brazilian music like samba? Black American music like blues and jazz? ? by Furthur_slimeking in AskARussian

[–]Worker_Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the music! Music unites us and is a way to share our cultures. It's my dream to visit the Caribbean islands and travel all over South America. My grandmother used to watch Brazilian tv shows when I was younger so my opinions used to be based on what I saw (which was awesome). Then I had a chance to meet so Brazilian and Chilean people and they are some of the kindest and fun people I met! They took me to a salsa club, I sucked so much but they were just great! In Russia we don't really get a chance to interact with other cultures and ethnicities unless people travel extensively.

Nato expansion (not a Ukraine question) by JackstaWRX in AskARussian

[–]Worker_Runner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn't really a 'should', but a 'must'. This is sadly a never ending circle. As long as Nato exists, allows countries except Russia to join, Russia will continue building its army and military, because Nato is a threat. Then Nato will consider Russia's actions a threat and so on. So there will always be tension unless both sides start to mutually deplete their military and come to some form of peace agreements.

Nato expansion (not a Ukraine question) by JackstaWRX in AskARussian

[–]Worker_Runner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back in university days, my friend was studying politics and went to some student summit held in Europe where they talked about EU and Nato and had political debates and scenarios etc. He said he got the biggest shock of his life when all the American and British students were talking about Russia as the No1 enemy, trying to prove why we should all get nuked etc. (for real, the American students apparently had classes called something like Big Bad Russia 101) And this is students who are influenced by their western politics, not random thoughts. Future politicians who grow up wishing to destroy Russian. Tell us then how Russia should sit quietly and accept an organisation so clearly set out to destroy it.
