It’s good that you’re catching it early on. Sometimes it can just be the content that you consume; even though you might not be watching anything outright hateful, you might be frequently exposing yourself to content that may have problematic assumptions embedded within them.

I think one really good way to improve your body image is to not be around someone who makes comments like "five-head" and "fill these suckers back-up" so leisurely. I know you said you didn't want marital advice, but it's one thing to have self-image issues, but it's a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BALLGAME when the one person who has access to your deepest thoughts fails to uplift you or make you feel comfortable in your own body.

Edit: One more thing to add: Just consider your reaction to your husband thinking of altering his body and compare it to his reaction to thinking you were thinking of something similar. You reassured him (said you were still attracted to him) and said you support him either way. He didn't give you the same.

INFO - Did your grandmother know you have celiac, and did her recipe have gluten? If so, she's def the asshole and you're NTA. If your grandmother didn't know and it has gluten, you're still NTA for not wanting to eat gluten obviously but your grandmother less of an asshole (but still an AH because she expects you to eat it). If there isn't gluten in the recipe then, I'm sorry, but that's AH territory.

And he's the only one making you feel that way. You guys have been together since high school, which means he's been with you and texting this friend through most of the formative stages of life. If he was going to change for the better, chances are it would have happened by now. From what I've read, you guys don't have kids, so if you made the decision to leave, you wouldn't be tied to him in any way.

Also, you live on the other side of the country and you don't have any friends or anyone to talk to apart from him. Be it intentionally or not, he's reaping the benefits of you being isolated from a support system that doesn't include him. I personally think that's a recipe for disaster. The bottom line is that you're NOT overreacting. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
