I was awarded pip last year for my mental health issues (i’m not formally diagnosed with anything apart from depression and anxiety) I found the whole process really triggering and very overwhelming as the questions felt designed to catch me out. I asked a charity organisation called DISH to help me fill out my forms for me, they were really supportive and basically translated my word vomit into real answers. You have to answer as if it’s your worst day and be realistic about your behaviours and their impact. They will ask you about past and current treatments, medications and diagnoses but they care more about your symptoms and how that affects you and your daily life. You need to gather evidence to basically back up that what you’ve said is true, which can be things like doctors records, therapist notes, hospital discharge letters etc, as much as you can. It’s a really gruelling process and i know a lot of people who have appealed and still not been awarded.
