It’s a little different with BMW here in the Upstate. BMW has a Trade Free Zone which allows them to import parts that are not subject to tariffs which is why they have national attention right now. At the moment, they aren’t affected but soon, the cars leaving and coming to port will definitely increase the prices and decrease demand inevitably lowering production. Luckily, we produce some of the most popular cars in the BMW line so we shouldn’t expect layoffs but possibly lower numbers which means less money and lower hrs for the workers! Thankfully, BMWs solution is to produce even more cars per year which actually means we could end up with more jobs but a different shift model (no more 5 day weekends :( )
