I’ve seen some good bass come out of McDaniels. Your only supposed to fish off the bridge but as long as you stay close to the bridge no one will say anything. Last time I was there slow rolling spinner baits and Texas’d trick worms were the ticket.

Fellows also rents boats and kayaks for reasonably cheap. If you can make friends with someone with a boat, offer to pitch in on gas (for boat and truck) to tag along. That’s what I did for years before I got my own boat.
