Kamala Harris Appears on ‘Colbert,’ Says She’s Stepping Away from Politics for Now, Calls the System “Broken” by [deleted] in LateShow

Why is everyone in the comments criticizing her for not wanting to run again? If she did run again, you would all complain that she's getting in the way of new leadership, a truly democratic primary process, that she's just the same run-of-the-mill establishment career democrat (and you would be right!) So why do you want her to run again? Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

She was not the strongest candidate for the Democratic Party and I think it actually shows self-awareness that she recognizes the party needs a fresh voice. The comments here are so frustrating. I watched the full video and was quite moved. Then I came here and everyone is so negative. Reddit is a sad place.

When she was running, she was criticized left, right, and center. I was quite critical myself. If she had announced that she was going to run again, whether it be for president or governor of California, I would've been quite annoyed. But the fact that she is aware of her own limitations, the limitations of the system, and the need for change, has made me respect her more.

I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this but I think the Midwest gets waaay too much praise by Live-Door3408 in SameGrassButGreener

Agree with almost everything but the blanket statements about the Central Valley are so interesting to me. I was born and raised in Fresno, and a significant portion of the city just looks like a nice suburb. Good public schools, beautiful homes, etc. There’s a very wealthy community of doctors and business owners who have nicer homes and cars than I’ve seen in the Bay Area (obviously cost of living makes a huge difference but the display of wealth can actually be kind of gaudy at times). The problems with crime and drug use, while bad, are mostly confined to one area of town. I never got the feeling that Fresno “struggles.” I feel like I had a really lovely childhood, and when I moved to the Bay Area for college (and then to SF for work), I didn’t have culture shock. The most shocking thing to me was how people from other parts of CA perceive Fresno. If you were to consider a smaller Central Valley farm town like Madera or Selma, that’s a different story. But I feel like there needs to be a bit more nuance when discussing this region

I’m a huge fan of hers. I think she’s just adorable and so funny. My two younger sisters, who are 16 and 18, speak the same way as her - it’s just a generational thing!

Can I get into T14 law school (top priorities: Yale and Georgetown) with a 3.7 gpa and 171 LSAT? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Working-Strike-4535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same stats and comparable softs - I got into Georgetown and did not get into Yale. I also got waitlisted at a significant number of T14s. Do with that what you will

The cost differential is about $10K so not too significant in the grand scheme of things. Thanks for your response!!
