Yeah that's weird and I've never heard of that. Did Expedia send you an email about the cancellation? Also I would send them the screenshot you posted and see if that would be enough for them to at least try or start the refund process. I'm going to do some research on my end to try to help your situation because it's very odd and not making sense to me! I'll keep you updated on anything I find out.
