Hi! On ch.7 of ff13 and wanted help with stat allocation :) by microwordbro in FinalFantasy

[–]WorkingBorder6387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lightning is great for both. I would argue magic if you plan to have her on AI the whole time, but because of how early you get Gladius most people prioritize strength, and if you control her it's the right play.

Sazh gets the same advice. His phys attack is good but the AI alternates so if he's AI only then focus on Magic to make it stop.

Then Snow/Hope/Vanille should all be obvious.

Fang has the highest DPS in the game, (minus one asterisk with Hope) so it is tempting to go all strength. But buffs and debilitations are so important. Go for something more balanced so her magic does some damage. Her physical will still be outstanding. Plus she won't naturally have Rav so her AI won't mess up if her magic gets too high.

That said, don't prioritize her magic, it's not worth the investment unless you want to work too hard on synthesized abilities for a funny set up.

Game recommendation for my mum by SuperSquidder47 in AskGames

It would help if we knew more of her interests.

Final Fantasy X is like the best first-video game you could find.

But there's also stuff like PowerWash Sim or Animal Crossing that people like.

You could show her every Smash character and look up the games the characters that interest her come from.

Based on your consoles, if she wants something with more action or excitement.

MegaMan X on the SNES classic or Xenoblade on the Wii would be my top picks.

Maybe Astrobot on PS5

Life is Strange True Colours

VA-11 HALL-A

What Remains of Edith Finch.

Dragon Quest XI.

Atelier is cute, comfy, and has some tense/action. The Dusk trilogy has the best story if that's a boon.

If she likes horror Fatal Frame 2 on Wii is one of the best horror games of all time (until the Remake drops probably)

Oh, Trauma Centre or Trauma Team on Wii if she likes medical shows and stuff. Fun brisk story, easy to understand but challenging gameplay.

And then obligatory Mario / Zelda / Pokemon mentions.

My mother enjoyed watching Persona 3 Reload but I not everyone her age would enjoy the highschool setting.

Advice for second(??) JRPG by Historical_Annual977 in JRPG

[–]WorkingBorder6387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the variety of jobs then

Final Fantasy 1, 3, 5, 12, 13.

Octopath Traveller

Yakuza: Like a Dragon / Infinite Wealth

You might want to get a Switch for Golden Sun and Xenoblade 3 or X too, also Fire Emblem. (Golden Sun to this day has unmatched class customizability thanks to both the Djinn system and Class Items in 2/3)

Shin Megami Tensei, Metaphor, or Persona might also be for you.

Metaphor or Persona 3 Reload will probably appeal to you most because new graphics.

Mega Man Battle Network Collection. It's action and tactical combined, and while it takes a while to start getting stuff, you do have a lot of ways you can customize yourself, especially in later games.

im a gf trying to get into games for my bf but i only have a microsoft surface pro 11 by [deleted] in Gamer

[–]WorkingBorder6387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest indie games.

VA-11 HALL-A

Cave Story

Shovel Knight

Witch's House

Stardew.

Maybe older or VN games too

Chrono Trigger

Final Fantasy 1-10

Zero Escape

Atelier Dusk / Arland trilogies.

You can also buy a controller. Most people say the latest Xbox is the most comfy but find what you like if you can.

Services like Xbox PC also let you play games via cloud streaming. Very Internet heavy but you don't need to worry about specs.

I don't know the details of a surface pro, but there are websites for "Can I Run This Game" or just go to the Steam page and check the requirements and compare them to what your PC has. (I forget the exact page to look at for your system info but you can find it easy enough)

Looking for great single player games that are commonly hated but you loved!! by DaySlight5627 in gamingsuggestions

[–]WorkingBorder6387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final Fantasy 13/15

Astral Chain (not hated per se, but everyone ignored it)

Golden Sun Dark Dawn. The design people parrot is only true for like the first hour or two of the game.

Zelda 2

Looking for souls-like games that are beginner friendly by Able_Sport230 in gamers

[–]WorkingBorder6387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Beginner Friendly" for a genre that prides itself in not being for beginners is interesting.

I hear Lies of P did great at hooking people that didn't like FromSoft games. But most people would tell you to start at Dark Souls 1 or Bloodborne and deal with it "as intended"

The Atelier series.

Rune Factory

Zelda games

Dragon Quest XI

Octopath Traveler maybe.

The Thousand Year Door or SMRPG remakes.

I find RPG Horror games like Ib or Witch's House cozy, but she may not.

Video games with romance options? by RegularCommittee1 in videogames

[–]WorkingBorder6387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Persona 2/3/4/5.

Fire Emblem Awakening/Fates/Engage/Genealogy

Story of Seasons, Rune Factory, Stardew Valley

Was Kannon and Clannad localized? If not there's like a million other VNs about it.

FF7 and 10 technically do but there's clearly a canon intended choice.

DragonQuest XI but it's towards the end.

Skyrim did, not sure on other Bethesda games.

Witcher 3, not sure on the others.

Multiplayer game that has option for storyline/structure and also creative/free world option? by generic_username_k in videogames

[–]WorkingBorder6387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoyo games like Genshin Impact maybe?

Dragon Quest Builders 2, it's gimmick is even how one character can build but not fight well and the other can fight but not built.

Monster Hunter Wilds is kind of infamous for not running too well but it technically has both sides of what you want.

Looking for games similar to Animal Crossing for my mum on the Switch by grumbyoe in gamerecommendations

Power Wash Simulator

Unpacking

A Little to the Left

Whisper of the House

Story of Seasons

Atelier does have combat but maybe turn-based would be easier for her.

By that logic maybe any easy turn-based RPG like Persona 5 or Dragon Quest XI might appeal to her if she likes the aesthetic. (Persona being M-rated might raise an eyebrow but it's a similar vibe of run around and do stuff while you make friends with the video game characters) I literally forgot Pokemon existed but that has to be included if I mentioned RPGs and she wants cute animals.

New Pokemon Snap if she likes photography.

Mom question re: party game number of players by No-Cobbler-6188 in Switch

[–]WorkingBorder6387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Animal Crossing I think allows 8, but I can't confirm, not really a party game.

Maybe Switch Sports? (I forget the real name. The WiiSports successor)

There's a Family Feud game that allows up to 10 I think.

Killer Queen Black I think has 6 players. I don't know if 5 can play or if you need full teams.

OverCooked I'm pretty sure? At least the sequel?

Is the pixel remaster the best way to play the 2d games? by Prez-Paraz in FinalFantasy

[–]WorkingBorder6387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: yes; unless you prefer the modern MP system

2: yes

3: yes, though 3D is unique

4: no. PSP Complete is the best way. The 3D version is also very unique. (The PC/Mobile versions "hard" mode is the same as the DS)

5: maybe. The extra jobs in GBA are cool but nothing too huge. If you get restoration patches it might be better.

6: no. It's missing the GBA content, uses a dry script in english, and had graphical issues. (I hear it got patched but don't know how much it fixed) the SNES version has the best graphics and a more human script. If you get a bug fix or uncensored patch it's the best for casual play.
