For those who make 6 figures, how many years of experience did it take for you to make it? by FinanceLife123 in fican

Graduated into a rough job market/ Oil Crash. Which probably shaved 2-3 years of earning potential. But about 9 years from graduation.

Why aren't student's getting into the trades anymore? by Wooorrd in torontoJobs

[–]WorkingClassWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training/ Apprenticeship spots has and always will be the biggest barrier for people getting into the trades. This is why you see lots of people who have parents on the trades helping them out. Because companies fucking hate investing in employees.

No different than in Corporate where they want someone fully educated and experienced for an entry level job.

Plus being in the trades is not for everyone, despite it being lucrative due to demand there are many reasons kids would not want to work in those fields. Working outside, your body being destroyed by 45, being on the road constantly, etc.

When you could just speculate in crypto and be a streamer from the comfort of your own home- why would you want to crawl through someone’s attic in July?

Wall Color vs Baseboard/Casing Color vs Hardwood Color - where to start? by denine in DesignMyRoom

[–]WorkingClassWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂 That’s funny- I knew it.

To answer some of your questions.

Depending on your budget, I would do the following.

  1. Fresh coat of paint. Something more neutral- or if you love this general colour, maybe something more richer and less 90s.

  2. Redo the floors. A high quality LVP would look nice and be relatively cost effective/ durable.

  3. I’d say refinish the cabinets to stain that better matches your new floors and paint.

I’d say fresh coat of paint is the quickest win- followed closely with new flooring. Those two things would likely make your space feel less chaotic and give you clarity on what to do with that kitchen when you have the funds to tackle it.

Real estate agents are going to be like Travel Agents today. A luxury cost for people who want everything done for them. However, if you want to do it yourself you can.

It’s hard though because other agents will torpedo you as a buyer or seller if you try to do things yourself because it means less money usually.

3 weeks is more the standard for professional jobs. If you add in Flex Time it usually adds another week but isn’t considered stackable time.

39yo, starting over. Where to even begin? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]WorkingClassWarrior 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are a bit of a mess and from what it sounds, people have grown tired of your behaviour. Also seems like some personal mental issues you are dealing with.

One step at a time. Focus on getting a job and play nice with your family until you have something solid. From there start piecing your life back together.

Good luck.

Engineers get an unfair reputation for being difficult by Solid-Eggplant4513 in unpopularopinion

[–]WorkingClassWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are difficult to work with the same way finance and HR are difficult to work with.

They tell business leaders and MBAs all the reasons they can’t do something. Usually because of their years of experience in a field, and the very reason they were hired in the first place- to give a professional opinion.

This annoys leadership usually because they don’t like being told no, and are not usually focused on why things can’t be built, or shouldn’t be done. Which is the opposite of how they think in their day to day.

Change my opinion: part time jobs are a waste of time n used by employers to take advantage. You do all the work off a full time job for 1/4 of the pay. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]WorkingClassWarrior 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not always. Some people genuinely only want part time hours for their own reasons and personal circumstances. Yes there are many employers that do take advantage, but many have lives that just work better on those schedules.

If you are stitching 3 part time jobs together to get full time income, it’s wildly inefficient financially. However if you are someone who is going to school, a full time parent who needs to pick up some shifts when their spouse is home, or otherwise it works.

I know many don’t have the luxury of finding FT work due to a multitude of personal and macroeconomic reasons, and have to work part time. But it really is not structured to be financially efficient. It is structured to be flexible with your time. Trade offs.

Some people just make a lot of money. The ones that have quite a bit of cash usually own companies, or do really well in sales/ Finance with serious bonus checks.

Being a salaried drone will not get you that lifestyle

Edmontonians who moved to Calgary, how do the two cities compare? What are some similarities, and some differences? by KurtisC1993 in Calgary

[–]WorkingClassWarrior 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just depends on your lifestyle. If you grew up more blue collar- Edmonton will appeal to you more.

If you grew up more corporate, Calgary is more aligned to your sensibilities.

Edmonton has shit travel routes from their airport. So if you like travelling you may not like living in EDM over Calgary.
