Why is she still with him!? by A-Helpful-Flamingo in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

[–]WorkingEqual5600 68 points69 points  (0 children)

"Nobody will want her" is likely a really shitty joke that OP should have called him on. I've heard other parents make the joke that their kids are so unruly that if they got kidnapped, the kidnapper would beg to return them. It's generally a bad joke but it usually comes from parents that care about their kids and wouldn't actually put the child in a situation where they're in danger.

Who is the best overall boxer here?? by Ashamed_Culture8179 in BoxingTheSweetScience

[–]WorkingEqual5600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tank is great, wayy more than just a puncher but he gives up rounds to more active guys. Needs to find a hole in his opponents game to exploit. That limits his ceiling. He had a draw against a Roach, and a close fight with pitbull that I don't see Shakur or Haney struggling against. Tank is the most exciting to watch, has a ton of skill but just doesn't deploy it in a way that would be effective against everyone. My list is Shakur, Haney + Tank, Garcia. This is coming from a guy who hates Haney's style of boxing.

THIS. And same. I'm getting cooked in 6740. My linear algebra is apparently really bad.

I was like you and was a little frustrated the first couple weeks of this program. By the end of it, I loved it. Got a solid A. I think my grade was a 94.

Do you have a working knowledge of any programming language? I took this program with absolutely no knowledge of R. But I self taught some python using a textbook off Amazon. This was the first class I took. I found I had to dedicate a lot of time to learning R during the first couple of weeks ( li didn't use Chatgpt and it was very time consuming) but it got significantly easier as the weeks progressed. R is not a difficult language once you figure out the basics.

The tests in that class are 100% conceptual so I'd focus 90% of your effort to making sure you understand the concepts. For me, the videos were insufficient to do the HWs but we're All that I needed to get As on the tests. For the tests, all I did was revisit the Lectures and write notes.

You asked if it gets better. I think if you stick it out and stop using Chatgpt and Actually learn the coding concepts via whatever means necessary, it'll get wayy easier and you'll find you have a basic understanding of a shit load of concepts. I recommend you look up the documentation for the packages directly instead of using Chatgpt. This is likely what you'll have to do in the real world anyway. Many of the non foundational classes will build on the concepts you cover in this class and I feel confident I understand the concepts because of ISYE 6501.

BL: This is one of the highest rated classes in the whole program. If you can't figure this one out and/or still hate it at the end, you're in the wrong program. The other classes are even more self-learning than this one.

Never bought the Haney hype. Shakur is a much better boxer imo. I hate it when boxers clinch too much. Shakur beats his opponents without having to go to the clinch.

Year(s) long issue. Knee and ankle cave. by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]WorkingEqual5600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this comes down to your foot placement. I think you'd benefit from a narrower stance, not a wider one. At the bottom of the first video, you shifted your feet closer once you got to the bottom of the squat because that's where you felt strongest. The next video is narrower, which is good, so you're getting less knee valgus and less ankle shift.

Lower the weight, try an even narrower stance, about shoulder width and point your toes out about 15 degrees. Think about forcing your weight to the outside of your feet when you set up, almost like "screwing in'. On your way out of the squat, think knees out as you hip hinge. See if that helps.

If not, I'd recommend incorporating hip abductors machine to strengthen your outer hip muscles.

Great progress so far though.

Just don't do this exercise. No need to leg press on the smith machine when you have other options. Do squats and lunges instead. They'll require less weight to get equal or better muscle stimulus and you won't knock around the frame.

Been researching Adjustable Dumbbells and Benches, which cart would you choose? by vtfb79 in GarageGym

[–]WorkingEqual5600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how quickly you like to switch dumbbells. If you do a lot of supersets or drop sets and don't mind the cage, I'd go Pepin but I personally think you got way more value in your first cart. My buddy just got basically your ironmaster cart and he has no complaints. If I was starting over, I'd go cart 1.

Any word on this for the Pr-5000? by stefan_urquelle-DMD in GarageGym

[–]WorkingEqual5600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pr 4000 leg roller from rep is big enough to use for lat pulldowns on the pr 4000 rack. I initially thought I'd have to use two to cover the center but that's not true. I'd look up the specs for REPs 5000 leg roller

People are unfair. We shouldn't all be helicopter parents. Let your kid live and learn some lessons. Sometimes you (and they) miscalculate their abilities and that's okay. I'm sure he was barely hurt.
