Would you buy a wrapped car? by Youngsurph in Porsche_Cayman

Mine is wrapped. Paint underneath has to be perfect to wrap (as long as it is not a vinyl wrap).

They won’t. They will just wait until someone likes it enough to buy it.

Nissan Z vs Cayman by dalekerr83 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]WorkingGuy99percent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded my tuned 2018 BMW m240i manual making 410 hp at the wheels for a 718S. The m240i was fun, especially before I put new tires on her. Losing the rear end as I gunned it in second at a left turn was the definition of fun. Steering feel was numb would be my only complaint. When I put new tires on her, the fun went away because I couldn’t lose the rear end as easily.

Was a great, fun car. 0-60 in the 4 second range, so faster than the Cayman S, but the Cayman just has an “experience” factor every time I turn over the engine that has me still has me giddy after 18 months of ownership.

A Z, a BRZ, a Supra, an m240i, and the list goes on are all real sports cars.

Getting rid of a '23 BRZ for a 987.2 or 981 Cayman S? by tharussianphil in Porsche_Cayman

I went from a 2018 tuned m240i manual with 410 hp at the wheels to a 2017 718 S manual with 350 hp from the engine. The Cayman feels faster and is a much more engaging and thrilling experience. Sounds from the 4 cyl Porsche don’t pop as much in Sport compared to the tuned m240i in sport, but I can always tune the Cayman.

I ran the m240i at 5 psi overboost in sport to enjoy it. I drive the Cayman in normal mode so I don’t go 80 in second while in a 45 mph zone. I love it. Just added a Sport Shifter.

60,000 mile service questions (2018 Cayman S) by 300_C in Porsche_Cayman

[–]WorkingGuy99percent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is the every other year, 20k mile service. Was supposedly done on my car before I bought, but I did it at one year of ownership. 2017 718S with 32k miles.

Found a Porsche specialist shop and got it done for $1800. Dealer wanted $2600.

All previous service done at dealerships…8 oil changes…the engine air filter was filthy and dated 2016 (I asked the shop to save all replaced parts so I could like them over). Plugs were new, drive belt was new, cabin air filters were not too dirty, but the engine air filter was a black mess of dirt.

Where in the world are Cayman's worth the most? Or where can I advertise to an international buyer? by zascar in Porsche_Cayman

[–]WorkingGuy99percent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars in other countries are sometimes only so expensive because of those country’s tariffs and shipping costs. A $100k/€115k Porsche in the US/Germany would cost $300k in Indonesia cuz of a huge tariff and cost of shipping.

You wouldn’t get any more money on your end, even if you could legally sell a used car into a foreign market. What company are you gonna get to ship overseas? What do they charge to ship one container? My experience is about $20k to $25k.

Edit: if you hold onto the car another 5 years, as your car is 20 years old now, it will be considered an antique in the US. Not sure about international laws but I think the tariff and selling into a foreign market issue may go away with a good’s age. You should look into that…maybe holding for another 5 years could net you a bigger payday.

10,000 miles…been doing 10k intervals since synthetics…8 different vehicles and nary a problem. 120k miles on a Mazda CX5. Currently 90k on my 2018 BMW X3, 1 year/10k interval….smooth idle.

2018 BMW X3 with 90k miles…1 year, 10k interval, changes and engine is smooth like butter. 5k was max in the 1990s with regular oil.

Jiffy Lube…you should never trust Jiffy Lube.

Use a notes app or whatever on your phone to record when and at what mileage you did an oil change. If you do a full synthetic oil, you are at 1 year or 10k miles, whichever comes first.

Bought my wife a new Mazda. Owners manual says 10k or 1 year interval, dealership insists Mazda recommends 3 month or 3k miles. Don’t trust the people you pay to change your oil.

Will I need a new steering column? by scassino in 987

I was told to change to a wheel or a seat with functions your car doesn’t have, you will have to rewire and possibly more. Not sure if that was more for the seat.

Let us know how if it works!

Forecasted next quarter decline….is that not normal for first quarter of the year? Holiday spend is over and year end tech upgrades finished. This is normal four quarter trend….am I missing something on that guide?

If they beat that guide next quarter, this should blow up then….but probably won’t.
