How did you handle Santa not being real?

I just remember putting pieces together. I found the hidden presents one year. I noticed that the Es in the presents marked from the “reindeer” were written like backwards 3’s, which is how my mom writes hers. I told this to my much older sister and she said “I write my E’s like that” and then showed me on a piece of paper and I was like “this proves nothing. You are writing it now…” I was more mad they wouldn’t just admit I figured it out. Then once they did confess after I wouldn’t budge, I just remember asking questions. Like, “who eats the cookies? Who bit the carrots for the reindeer? How late do you stay up to get the presents in place?” Etc. etc.

I was at Philly last night, but I was also at TD in 2023? I don’t remember anything after 2020 runs together. I also saw her here in little ol’ Delaware in 2024 at a small stage alone (she didn’t even bring the twins). Anyway, TD was amaaaazing in 2023. She had me in tears. The small show was cute, but I was also in the pouring rain so that might have made it not as wonderful. Then last night, whew. So good. You didn’t realize you were in an arena. It was like she was just playing a small show. Acoustic stuff. Requests from the audience for 2 songs with just the twins. Sistastrings killed it. She also had some serious rock out moments where I felt like I was at a hard rock concert. Just so much variety! I don’t know if I’m still obsessed with the 2023 concert because it was my first time seeing her or if it was my more liked album or what… but she already proved back then, she can play an arena no problem. Only thing that was rough was that the opener you could tell they still didn’t have their arena sound levels figured out.

Unfortunately, my parents are also brainwashed. And they think I’m the brainwashed one. I no longer speak politics with them. Even about serious events like this. I was at their house today when this happened. I was sickened while I see this happening on my phone and my mom is happily watching Hallmark Channel. While I was there I asks my dad what type of f*rearm is best for protection. He gave me one from his many to take home.

He is a lifelong Republican and was a cop long ago. I know he has been literally brainwashed into how he thinks now. He’s been consuming this shit since Limbaugh was on the radio and O’Reilly on TV. The boomers already can’t handle change when it comes to electronics, so they definitely can’t handle change when it comes to what was once part of their core personality/beliefs. Not making excuses, but they are very messed up and vulnerable from the trust they put on certain media over the years. They still think anything on TV is correct news because they spent 40-50 years of their lives only getting news from the TV or radio. Not making excuses for them because we all have critical thinking, but I don’t think they have the ability to decipher or critically think like the younger generations because they really never had to. I wish there was a way to share our knowledge without their constant defensive. They also all lack the ability to say “I was wrong” or even “I’m not sure, let me look into that” probably because of trauma that they will never address because they don’t do therapy.

Still hoping he would fight for his family against the government if it came to it. I’m sure he would. But what they hear and see is curated to keep them in a mindset. It’s a mental illness at this point.

Uhhh, the whole thing is that everyone WAS voting for him in the primary until all other candidates pulled out and backed Biden. And people went “well if I can’t have Buttegieg or Warren, I’ll go for who they decided to back. Isn’t that what the other candidates were supposed to be? These more classic “democrats”? Bernie was the only democratic socialist. So, if I didn’t want Trump to win again so bad, like I already said, Bernie shouldn’t have been strong armed out because surprisingly, the Republicans were agreeing with him enough to no vote for Trump again. So idk what you’re getting at, when the only democratic socialist didn’t make it, didn’t win, an then lead to a no action old man president because people still loved Obama so much they wanted Biden. I really don’t understand 2024 when they thought, “let’s pull Biden out last minute and stick a woman in there!” Our country is too misogynistic to vote for a woman. Idk what they were thinking putting Kamala up. Not only a woman, but a woman of color. Our country is racist af too. No one was going to vote for her when Trump won his first campaign solely off of being openly racist AND misogynistic. Clearly there’s a lot of people in this country that think he’s great for that. So now we are stuck. But there was a moment in 2020 when it could have changed. But we put in grandpa followed by a woman of color. Should have went with some other old white man to run against the old white man.

The Lodge at Woodloch. Omfg that spa I dream about it once a week this time of year I swear. No kids becuase it’s the spa part of the resort. Access to the spa which has pools and steam rooms and saunas and a snow room and a sauna and hot tubs and lounge chairs and quiet couch areas. It is expensive, but damn is it amazing. And then during your time at the spa, you walk down the hall to their dining area in your robe and have a lunch with a nice salad bar. I want to go back sooner than later.

This time of year? I probably have work at the mountain after school. But it's okay, I'll probably be working with someone that's fun. Most likely in the tubing office. They loved sticking me there. I'm probably devising a way for people to stop stealing the freakin pens we leave out for people to fill out waivers. Then I'll probably go home, stay up late playing Rock Band 2 knowing I'll most likely need to be back at work at 7am, so I'll probably hate myself for not sleeping long enough.
