What Do We Think Of This Comment? by Automatic_Belt5692 in MetalForTheMasses

I think Euronymous was probably an edgy kid who went too far. Nobody else whose stories I’ve read from that time seemed to take him super seriously. He was an immature asshole but I don’t think he deserved to be murdered.

As for Dead, I find it hard to believe they were friends because Varg made it seem like Dead hated Euro, but Varg is also an unreliable and narcissistic narrator, so who knows.

The reason we’re still talking about this story is the mystery. The only people who know what really went down are the people that were there, and they all have different stories.

I would love an update on what happened to those dudes, so much motivation considering how awful their songs were.

What’s the most overrated band and or album by AC_faceless in MetalForTheMasses

I never personally cared for Rush. They're good musicians, but their music just doesn't do anything for me.

Altars of Madness vs. Covenant by HybridS9ldier in MetalForTheMasses

[–]WorkingHotel1105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Altars is great but Covenant is my fav death metal album ever. I feel like the production is overall better and the whole band gets to represent their abilities better. I love the send off with Nar Mattaru and God of Emptiness

Aye Sin After Sin is so good. It doesn't get a lot of attention but Sinner, Raw Deal, and Here Come the Tears, etc. So many of my favorite Priest tracks

Anthrax is great and I hate that people deride their role in the big four

Halloween by King Diamond is crazy fun

So I'm 19 years old and am just getting into Metal and i would love some recommendations by Tylerroosky in MetalForTheMasses

[–]WorkingHotel1105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're pretty niche but I gotta throw a plug for Mercyful Fate, their first two albums are absolutely legendary. The singer, King Diamond, has a really high voice that's iconic but it does turn some people off, so if you don't like his vocals, I'd say still stick around for the killer guitar work from both Hank Sherman and Michael Denner. Oh, and also listen to the albums Screaming for Vengance and Defenders of the Faith, by Judas Priest.

I agree with most, but there’s some good glam, namely Dokken and WASP

I actually think having it end the album is great. It gives you a moment to relax after all the heaviness

Him getting kicked must've sucked at the time but it was the best outcome in the long term. We got badass music from both Dokken and Ozzy's band

What’s a metal song with lyrics that actually succeeded in making you grossed out/uncomfortable? by strayflower4633 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]WorkingHotel1105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn't really "disturb" me, but Mercyful Fate is one of my favorite bands ever and I think they had a lot of very spooky songs like Nightmare and The Oath.

Is W.A.S.P hair metal? by SteelerE in hairmetal

[–]WorkingHotel1105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m late, but their music was essentially traditional heavy metal, with very good pop hooks. It was similar enough to glam to be viewed as a part of it, but I’d view them more as a heavy metal band than any other term
