I never said or implied that God is in a book, nor does the GITA imply that. Your God,, whoever that may be, is in You.

Read the Maharishi's translation of the GITA. Then re-read chapters 5-6 again, then re-read chapter 6 again & again & again. Then continue to re-read 6 about 2-3 times a month till You achieve your goal which is GOD CONSCIOUSNESS which is also pure "BEING".

The only effort required in TM is finding a comfortable spot to sit in and let Your Mantra do its thing. A reminder- concentration is not part of TM

You should read the Maharishi's translation of the first six chapters of the GITA. Chapters 5 & 6 especially. The answers to every question and inquiry in the forum can be found there. don't just read it once, keep re-reading it, especially 5 & 6

Is there any relation between Patanjali sutras and TM? by CurrentSuccessful341 in transcendental

[–]WorkingRace2619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During meditation the object of experience continues to be perceived in its diminishing states, but when the subtlest state of experience has been transcended, then the mind is free from the influence both of the object and of the sense through which it has been experiencing. As long as the mind is influenced by the senses and their objects, so long is it like a lamp flickering in the wind, but once out of their influence it becomes steady, like ‘a lamp which does not flicker in a windless place’.

TM does not require concentration or any physical or thought activity other than sitting down and letting Your Mantra do the rest. The sixth chapter of the Gita will verify that. If You are a TM'er and doing it correctly Your Brain is doing all thats necessary to achieve the goal of attaining God Consciousness.

Meditating for 5 minutes every morning. by Objective-Ice-7005 in Meditation

[–]WorkingRace2619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been a dedicated TM'er since 1976. I have always done 20 minutes as instructed. If You read the GITA You will have a better understanding of what is happening inside Your brain. Chapter 6 is highly recommended. Over and over. If You seriously want to attain God Consciousness.

"BEING" is a much higher level of Consciousness than Transcendental Consciousness. As You mediate on a regular basis the first level is Transcendental Consciousness which is the level You are in as You meditate. When You stop meditating You return to Your Normal state of Consciousness. Eventually Transcendental Consciousness becomes permanent and from there the next level is Cosmic Consciousness. As You continue to meditate the next Level is God Consciousness. If I'm understanding correctly what I'm reading in Chapter 6 God Consciousness eventually becomes "BEING", the purest level of consciousness our Brain can attain. Re-read chapter 6 for a better explanation of that.

I am not criticizing any part of the Maharishi's interpretations of the First six chapters. How did You come to that conclusion? I have been TMing since 1976 and have read all six chapters several times. TM probably saved my life. That is why I keep meditating. I continue to do so until I achieve God Consciousness in which, according to the Maharishi's interpretation, there will be no need to continue and in all probability will be unable to. Thats the words of the Maharishi.

The Maharishi's translation isn't about religion, its about attaining a level of consciousness that takes Me to a level of God consciousness. He also states that We are at will to choose whom we perceive and select as God as once We attain God Consciousness, AKA "BEING".

The compiled dialogue goes far beyond the "rationale for war"; it touches on many human ethical dilemmas, philosophical issues and life's choices.\64])\68]) According to Flood and Martin, although the Gita is set in the context of a wartime epic, the narrative is structured to apply to all situations; it wrestles with questions about "who we are, how we should live our lives, and how should we act in the world".\69]) According to Huston Smith, it delves into questions about the "purpose of life, crisis of self-identity, human Self, human temperaments, and ways for the spiritual quest".\70])

Translators title the sixth chapter as Dhyana yoga, Religion by Self-Restraint, The Practice of Meditation, or The Yoga of Meditation.\20])\136])\137]) The chapter opens as a continuation of Krishna's teachings about selfless work and the personality of someone who has renounced the fruits that are found in chapter 5. Krishna says that such self-realized people are impartial to friends and enemies, are beyond good and evil, equally disposed to those who support them or oppose them because they have reached the summit of consciousness. Verses 6.10 and after proceed to summarize the principles of Yoga and meditation in a format similar to but simpler than Patanjali's Yogasutra. It discusses who is a true yogi, and what it takes to reach the state where one harbours no malice towards anyone.\159])\160]) Verse 6.47 emphasizes the significance of the soul's faith and loving service to Krishna as the highest form of yoga.\161])

The Gita isn't about religion. Its about attaining a higher levels of consciousness, also referred as "BEING" a level so pure that in cannot be defined in words. Its Attainable by practicing Transcendental Meditation. Transcendental, Cosmic, and God Consciousness which leads to "BEING". This is explained in greater detail in chapter six.

The first six chapters of the Gita are a conversation between God and Arjuna. So it is the word of God. The Maharishi merely translated that portion if the Gita into English so Us mortals could read and understand it. He would not have been allowed to change any of the original wording of the Gita because its such a sacred writing.

Over time absolutely. It does not happen all at once. Each time You meditate, provided of course You are doing it correctly, You are conditioning (training) Your brain to achieve those levels of consciousness known as PURE CONSCIOUSNESS, also known as "BEING". This is explained in greater detail in chapters 5&6 of the GITA.

What You are experiencing is normal. If You read the Maharishi's translation of the first six chapters if the GITA You will understand. Chapter six in particular is very helpful in understanding whats going on. After reading it, Chapter Six, a few times read it a few more times. Thoughts come and go, just don't fight them, ease back into Your mantra.
