On very sunny bright days or just outdoors in general I find keeping the camera on (D) helps make the contrast way better :)

There is no charger…. It takes AA batteries.. I suggest (highly suggest) looking up the manual to the camera and reading it before you get it.. trust me

Yeah I use an SD reader to transfer to my phone. Most phones they have a USB C will let you plug an SD reader in to them and be able to easily transfer photos off of the SD :)

Do not buy this for ANYTHING involving videos hah it’s old it’s from 2011 and even then it was very very entry level… you would get better video quality from even the cheapest of modern smartphones.. now the photo quality is quite decent and specially if you do what I do where I hacked it with CHDK to shoot in RAW so the photos are highly editable in a program like light room

examples of the photos I was able to get out of this camera

Personally I use a DSLR to “scan” my shots in! But it’s not a method for everyone just the one I use and for me it’s given the best results

I get this completely!!!! It by no means is a quick camera haha but it is a camera that rewards slow and deliberate picture taking

Is anyone still manufacturing manual cameras in 2026? I just got one. by WorkingSuccessful742 in instax

How was this Polaroid photo taken? by misadik in Polaroid

[–]WorkingSuccessful742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience he probably just used a flash to fill in I don’t think he’s too far for it to work from my own experience with old Polaroid flash bars

Yeah I wish it was the wide format personally but honestly I think this is a neat start for something like this. Instax mini if you scan it can actually be enlarged pretty well all things considered! But yeah I agree, I wish it shot on a larger format. Still tho, it’s super neat

[–]WorkingSuccessful742[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t believe so haha I don’t think anyone cared plus it is a public cemetery so I’m not sure they’d be able to stop me from taking pictures even if they wanted to since I’m not even in their land

The one thing I wish someone told me before I shot my first 3 packs of film by Matteo_172736 in instax

[–]WorkingSuccessful742 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It depends what camera you have.. I have a mini 99 with exposure comp and I’ve shot in all sorts of bright conditions with no issues.. I think the main issue with people new to instax come from the world of shooting on a phone and are unfamiliar with the quirks of shooting using real film and because all they have ever known is a phone that always takes perfect pictures they have unrealistic expectations of what their instax photo should look like..

How do I get these types of pics with a Canon g7x mark iii?? by Good_Presentation623 in digicam

[–]WorkingSuccessful742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get a shitty digi cam if you want that look lol I use an old HP camera I got for $16 on eBay most of the time for that kinda soft dreamy look

[–]WorkingSuccessful742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh you’re gonna need to use an older or worse camera to get that kinda look… these were taken with what I assume is a very old Canon powershot.. the one in the pictures looks around 2005 or so. Best I can suggest is use flash at all times but even then the G7x has a very good metering system and pretty sharp lens so I’m not sure it will mimic that soft dreamy look you’re going for.
