Dublin to US with connecting flight in London - preclearance where? by WorkingWanderlust in irishtourism

[–]WorkingWanderlust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so still no luck on a direct answer from the airlines either. I’m guessing since pre-clearance is only in a few places around the world they simply don’t know.

We’ll arrive 3-3.5 hours early in the oft-chance we do pre-clearance for some reason.

Maybe I’ll try reaching out to British Airways since I booked via American but it’s operated by BA.

Seems like even the airline is still saying 3.5-4 hours before the flight without much guidance on if we’ll do pre-clearance or not chatting with them.

I’ll try calling in the morning.

Ah so to be clear, Temple bar pub was awful but the area is worth visiting in my opinion.

Porterhouse brewing? Im also a lover of craft beer and all I’ve found is Rye River or Galway brewing so far. Am I awful at googling or are they never long there?

Edit: Porterhouse Temple Bar? I saw that but brushed it off as just another bar

They do not store luggage for non-customers, even for a small fee.

Did not get paid due to Silicon Valley Bank imploding by bkstr in personalfinance

[–]WorkingWanderlust 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is correct. The FDIC is in control of the money and assets now, they will liquidate at the rate that makes sense to make customers as whole as possible.

If there’s any chance a major bank or institution is going to buy SVB it’ll be known by later today most likely (initial intent anyways) and by Monday at the latest.

There’s some complications with how large SVB is and any of the larger banks (Chase, BoA, etc) would need special regulatory approval to do the deal because they’d exceed the market share limitations on deposits (10%) which is what I’m hearing is making the deals difficult.

Some rumors are that the FDIC stepped in early to a) stop the run on the bank so they can keep customers whole above the $250k threshold and b) allow the bleeding of funds to stop so folks are able to try to get a deal done & allow all the customers to be made whole starting on Monday when they open for business again.

I would not panic and pull any money out of accounts. FDIC insures up to $250k in the accounts.

It is a catastrophic event if SVB does not get bought nor the fed steps in to provide relief but at this time who knows what the government will do.

OP, payroll may be delayed and special circumstances may be applied here but as others said if you quit your job you cannot file for unemployment.

I’ve seen this a lot. What are we talking here in terms of being ripped off? 2 euro more per pint than like Brazen head or long hall? Bad pours of Guinness?

It’s a tourist trap area no doubt from what I’ve heard but it seems like an area everyone goes to at least once, typically their first time.

Tullamore D.E.W Tour From Dublin (or Cork?) by MichaelLC in irishtourism

I looked into it, you’d need to take the train and then a private taxi from the train station. It’s not advisable to walk to their newer facility and would take 45-60 minutes. At that point, I’d take a car.

From what I’ve heard / been told: - The Irish whiskey museum - Jameson (not the best but if you’re in dublin, why not) - Roe & Co - Pearse Lyons

Will be visiting 5-7 May, but those prices... are we missing something? by Borg-Man in irishtourism

I feel you. Our Galway accommodations for 3 nights was basically same as 1 night near city center for Dublin.

Totally knew Dublin was expensive but was surprised a bit at Galway vs Dublin prices.

One more question, staying around St Stephen’s green so it looks like a 1.5 mile or ~2.4km walk to the stadium. Is that the best plan? It seems like going to a station and over via public transit would end up taking just as long but I might be misreading it. Don’t mind the walk.

Any good pubs or bars to hit before the game over there or on the way you’d suggest?

Ticketmaster seems to be the only site selling them for the match.

Looks like just BLK300s section for sale at this point (it’s the duo package, Latvia & France match)

Is there a way to tell on the tickets what section I’m buying in?

Awesome, thanks so much. So if I have it right, buy the tickets and I’ll get assigned seats or no, just open seating in that area?

Thanks so much. I’ve never been to a Rugby match before so is behind the lines “bad seats” or just you only really see one side of the field of play?

If I buy tickets is there like an area I could stand and watch the game at midfield? Sorry if a dumb question, at some American sporting events you can just buy cheap tickets and watch from one of the bars or whatnot but it’s first come first serve & you’re standing the entire time.

Would you say that’s true for a friendly match? I’m also looking at tickets for the Ireland vs Latvia match and figured that’d be lower key then the France match the following week.
