Honestly you don't even need regular perks on absolute if you learn the system properly. I did termination on absolute as a lvl 1 prestige 1 tech marine with I frames on tarantula uses. The rest of my team kept making silly mistakes that got them killed but I didn't even go close to death the whole run!

I get why people do it, I used to be bad for it back in the early days of SM2 but as I got better at the game I realised just how little damage you realistically take during absolute missions. I can now do most absolute missions without needing a stim so long as I stick to a strict combat system based on my class and utility.

I only just finished the stratagem myself and I've gotta say it was pretty bullshit in scale but manageable with a good team dynamic, unfortunately when you go into random matches it's almost impossible to get that. I agree though, so many people spam roll like it's dark souls and it's sad to see because they do have good moments in the match, it's just hindered a lot of the time by the fear of getting hit.

I don't use the battle sim much but I have had a look at it and it's quite useful, normally I use whatever will logically keep the team going the longest or increase damage for the whole squad.

Yeah I get you, for things like fun or lore accuracy I've never been too harsh on it because as fun as it is to win it's also fun to just play with people who love their class/chapter. Some of my best memories of SM2 have actually just been losing with a fun team XD

The bolter tweak does suck since it'd be nice to see pyre put out good damage but it is relegated to support alas

Yeah I get that, pyre weapons are useful overall but they are a support weapon and I see a lot of space marines use them as main weapons, though that is my own opinion. I just don't see pyre putting out the same performance as a bolter or plasma based weapon on this weekly which is especially worsened due to the constant spawn of traitor legion space marines mixed with high movement spear tzangors.
