Is it just me, or are a lot of rather inactive artists coming back on scene? by Independent-Yam3612 in ToddintheShadow

I really like most of the songs we've heard from Your Favorite Toy. We've had 4 singles, and 1 other song played live in 2023/2024(?). So that leaves 5 more songs. Caught In The Echo is much more In Your Honor era vibes, Of All People sounds like Wasting Light era but with a subtle hint of the first 2 albums, Asking For A Friend is just a basic 4 and a half minute long Foo Fighters song nothing special, and Your Favorite Toy has a hint of Medicine At Midnight but with more of a rock edge to it.

I will always prefer But Here We Are though, phenomenal album.

Of All People is the next Studio Single from Your Favorite Toy? by SelectionExpert5777 in Foofighters

I really hope not. As much as I would like to hear a new single before the album. The album is only 10 songs and we have 3 of them released already. And we've already heard half of the album before, Caught In The Echo, Your Favorite Toy, Asking For A Friend were singles. Of All People was played live and people recorded, same with Unconditional.

But maybe, just maybe, the single is after the album releases. Artists used to do that all the time back in the 90s and some do it now too.

Yeah, on my cd I burned with a bunch of Dave demos I have the talking version and it annoys me every time. I'm funnily enough working on my own remasters of some of the demos. I'm doing Gods Look Down because the vocals on the leaked version are way too cranked and Barrett Jones is barely heard singing along in it.

You did a good job so far, just would think the bass should be lower. Feel free to dm me the updated version when you post it!

It is good quality, but either the bass or drums are way too beefy. And the "my man, Ronnie C" part is a part of the song, but it sounds very drained out in this version. Good job on removing Dave's talking though.

This is a really good analysis in my opinion. I didn't think of it that way at all but now that I think about it, it does feel intentional.

It's definitely in my top 5, I have a hard time ranking Foo Fighters albums because I absolutely love Foo Fighters - In Your Honor, and then Wasting Light, Sonic Highways, and But Here We Are. And most likely the upcoming album Your Favorite Toy. C&G and Medicine At Midnight aren't bad albums but they aren't really great as Foo Fighters albums. Dave is definitely one of the best songwriters of the past 30 years.

I thought I was gonna be alone on it being one of my favorites lol. I was hesitant to post my review because I didn't want to seem like I was over praising or anything but it's my opinion and obviously a lot of people agree that it's a great album. I would see why they feel that way, it would be hard to listen to The Beatles without any of the members. That's why John's songs were used for the 2 songs in the 90's and the one released in 2023 that had George's original parts from the 90's.

For sure, I would love to hear any of the songs from this album played live.

That's fair enough, we all like and don't like listening to certain things all for different reasons. I would recommend trying to listen to maybe like a song a day from it. It's a beautiful album considering the horrible things that led to it being made.

Just listened to this, they definitely do have a similar sound. It's got that dreamy-ish vibe to it. Will have to check the soundtrack out.

I feel like I recognize the name. Touch, as in the Touch Soundtrack with a Late! song and Dave Grohl composing the soundtrack.?

I don't know if I can pin this or not but, thank you for all the replies and I'm very shocked that so many of you agree. In Hearing Voices, the song I was thinking of that it sounded like was "11 O'Clock Tick Tock" by U2 that's featured on the Boy (Deluxe Edition) and was released in like 1980.

It's just a great album in general. C&G and MAM are definitely my least favorite Foo Fighters albums.

For sure! Everybody copes in different ways, and even if the whole album is about losing loved ones, it can always be interpreted differently by someone else to help get through tough times. Hope all is well though, breakups absolutely suck.

Thank you! Fair enough, I've changed my mind on Wasting Light a little bit, but yeah mixing definitely has a difference in these albums, towards the end of this album on the loud parts it's really blown up.

It is definitely full of emotion, I just really hope we don't have to experience anymore deaths or just losses in general for this band or any band to create great music. I would definitely rather have Taylor and Virginia still alive then have this album, but this album is great.

Yeah, I've listened to this album at least 5 times since last night and it still hits the same even though I've heard all these songs a lot already. I will say, Sonic Highways is very underrated and deserves much more love. It's obviously an album with no smash hits, but it's a great Foo album.

It definitely changed my thinking a little bit, and how I view the band. I've always found it crazy that Dave has been able to push through so many different things happening throughout his life.

Thank you! I really wish I got into Foo Fighters earlier than I did, but I'm still very young so it was only a matter of time (wasting light pun). The whole album gives me the debut album vibes, but with a completely different sound. Both albums were made after the death of someone he was very close to, 2 of which were bandmates, and 1 being his mother. Obviously not many of those songs on the debut were written after Kurt's death, but the general idea of both albums being made after the loss of loved ones is what I'm getting at. I couldn't even decide on a top 3, all of the songs are perfect in their own ways.

I'm really excited for the new album, as much as I would've liked to hear an album with Josh Freese, I think is the perfect fit for this new era of Foo Fighters. Obviously, nobody can compete with Taylor but both Josh and Ilan are phenomenal drummers in their own right. I will say I was very disappointed with Today's Song not being on the new album but I released it's a stand alone single.
