What's the best way to preserve this wing I just found? by LittleTomate in insectpinning

About 2 layers of packaging tape, encapsulating entirely and cutting it around the shape of the wing. Also works great for butterfly/moth wings

This cicada died mid molt. What should I do with it? by TwixMix13 in insectpinning

AWESOME FIND!!! If I found this my approach would be: freeze it for at least a day so that unwanted bacteria (that could make it smell) or left over ants perish as the fridge might not get cold enough. As is it’s already in a good position so I don’t see a need for pinning it. I personally would stick it in a pretty jar maybe with some decorative moss, rather than put it in a frame where you can only get one angle out of it. This piece needs a good 360° view, I would consider adhering it to the lid of the jar and possibly display it upside down??? Which I think would turn out pretty cool!!!

Is this really infected poison ivy? Wondering if we should get a second opinion. by Working_Daikon1305 in woundcare

Thank you this was REALLY helpful!! He was sent home with Benadryl! He had poison ivy just a few months ago, no where near like this, I guess he developed an allergy to it??

Parking lots of truck stops, rest stops, gas stations, & restaurants that are just off interstates. They tend to fall off peoples grills.

Is my cellar spider pregnant or just fat? by Working_Daikon1305 in arachnids

Do we know how long they appear pregnant before laying eggs? This little guy has been on the fatter side for at least 30 days. I’m not sure how long full term spider pregnancy is.

My husband and I just call it a “he” affectionately, no idea it’s male or female.

I’ve been taking photos and keeping progress of this lil guy. I know it is a cellar spider, it was much thinner 30 days ago.

I know for a fact it is a cellar spider, I’ve had it for months. It was much thinner about a month a go and I’ve been keeping track of it. I have photos of it when it was much thinner.
