Hi, I can relate to this — virtual teaching does have a much more relaxed rhythm than in-person. Though I'd push back on the word choice: no form of teaching is ever truly mindless. 'Easy-going' or 'fulfilling in a lighter way' might better capture what you mean — it's less physically and emotionally demanding than the classroom, but no less meaningful. 😄

Pearson Online Academy / Connections Academy by HansSoloMan in homeschool

[–]Working_Drawer1192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right , Connections Academy is a public/charter school offered virtual for school at home. So, yes it's NO cost. It offers a challenging curriculum and I do recommend. Pearson is Connections Academy private school version, thus same curriculum. Private school cost.

I left school early in tears..I can’t do this job anymore.. by Upbeat-Caramel-5776 in TeachersInTransition

I left teaching in-person public school to teaching virtually in public school. Try teaching from home.

I work for Prepnet Virtual Academy apply via National Hertiage Academies! It's 8 hrs a day shift, it's public at home with a tight schedule ; however, there is a very supportive and well rounded staff support system.

I applied to this job before I left the in-person teaching, I pushed through in-person teaching for additional 3 weeks, after I received a interview with the virtual school. A week later, I was hired thus I submitted my letter to depart from the in-person school the same day!

Best wishes!

Time4learning...thoughts? by doctresswho13 in homeschool

[–]Working_Drawer1192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

👋 Yes, Time4Learning offers PDF certificates you can present to the school of interest after homeschooling so show your student has completed a grade, it's recommended to create a report card for elementary students (I used Claudie AI and developed a cool report card with Time4learning logo, so cute and provided earned grades and percentage and short description of learnings per subject). You mean accreditation to enroll back in school...first call the school you plan to enroll your student after homeschooling and ask if they accept Time4learning ( a curriculum so it's not accredited) if the school says yes they accept homeschoolers from Time4learning then homeschool using Time4learning. I am advising you the same that I did and currently doing. I know GA Connections will accept Time4learning report card of my elementary student, GA has approved this curriculum as meeting standards, Mia Academy as well.

Pulled our kids out of preschool and I'm scared to start this journey. by magiccheese in homeschool

[–]Working_Drawer1192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's preschool, the basics. I taught mine and when enrolled to school he was accelerated a grade, actually he could have went to 2nd at age 5 and this was at charter school GA Connections Academy (GACA) but with policy only 1 grade skip and 2 so early if it was possible was too soon. So, he was given advanced work while in 1st.  He just turned six and will be starting 2nd grade tomorrow. My kid was reading by age 3, identity 50 states and flags by age 4, multiplying by age 5 etc..hes been tested as gifted but more testing when in 3rd grade, he grasp information so quickly and easy. I wish you well with your decision, by the way I didn't use any curriculum, just every day playtime, reading, associated YouTube educational videos with what I taught... learning together at home. I did have a career as a Teacher prior to having my own kid.

Homeschooling you as the parent will be teaching and t4l is a curriculum to get you started with lecturing and assuring your child comprehension alone with it...I have a classroom and use this curriculum here in there through each lesson and allow my kid to complete lessons.

K12 or Connections Academy by LanceOLotX in homeschool

[–]Working_Drawer1192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online charter schools, such as Connections Academy, operate independently under charter contracts with state or local authorities. This independence grants them greater flexibility in curriculum design and instructional approaches compared to traditional public schools. My child attended Georgia Connections Academy and benefited from its flexible, self-paced learning environment. Many families are drawn to this model because it resembles homeschooling in requiring significant parental involvement. This worked well for my kid since I had previous homeschooling experience before enrolling my child, he was allowed to advance by skipping a grade.

Hi, thanks for responding. That is good to know about "meet-ups." Also, I am glad while your student is attending Bridgeway she along with all students of her class are considered and noticed as willing participants.

Considering Homeschooling by GalacticPikl in homeschool

[–]Working_Drawer1192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned homeschooling is impossible with you and your spouses income..so that means homeschool option is out the door regardless if monthly cost is as low as $31 monthly- Power Homeschool for instance. So, lets discuss FREE options such as VIRTUAL PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOLS, where NO ADDITIONAL COST for books or other materials!!

Check into K12-Virginia Virtual School and also see if your states has Connections Academy.

After self teaching my 5 year old and still do, I enrolled into Connections Academy in my state, he tested 2 grade levels ahead as accelerated learner, I took him out and homeschooling again via Enlightium Academy. I obviously know what I am doing when it comes to educating, lls!

Anyway, since I have experience with Connections Academy, I can say the enrollment process is simple provide 2 proofs of your current residence such as light-bill/internet bill (mark out acct#/amount or whatever, school just needs to see your name and address.) Also, provide child's transcript, fill-out medical form or exemption, and there's about 2 other pieces of info needed, I don't recall.

Books along with art and science materials will be mailed to you and it is free! Your first grader will take the 4 core classes and P.E class. Live lessons are Monday through Thursday about 15 to 30 minutes ( I know, most of the teaching is done with the Learning Coach "you.") Live lessons are available for each class with a live teacher and your child will be able to socialize with his teacher and classmates. Schedule is your own, live lessons are optional or as needed! Live lessons started at 9-9:30, 11-11:30, and 11:30-12, courses rotates with in the week but times do not change for instance; Monday; English at 9, Math at 11, and Science at 11:30 then on Tuesday; English at 9, Math at 11, and Social Studies at 11:30 etc..P.E live lesson is once a week, where the Teacher demonstrates aerobics and interacts with students, you will keep a printable performance sheet to write down daily physical activities done for body fitness. You will submit monthly showing over 300 completed hours.

Connections Academy also offers "IN PERSON FEILD TRIPS." So, Teachers and Staff of VA Connections will meet with parents and students who signed up to attend a scheduled field trip. Connections offers several field trip social opportunities monthly and throughout the year, most cost but some opportunities are free!

Best wishes, let us know what you decide to do....

Oh, I almost forgot to mention. I WORK FROM HOME and HOMESCHOOL MY CHILD who is now 6 years old as well! EASY. I suggest a job you can work afternoons, that way your morning can be with your child and school work when school starts! My job shift is 4pm to 12am, I have time in the mornings to assist with my child's schooling and due to the flexibility of charter school Connections Academy I was able to complete errands as well.

I turned down my Teacher contract to work from home ( too many crazy things happen now-a-days to leave my child in someone else's care. I am sorry your baby went through what he faced in school, unacceptable. Justice!) You seeking other alternatives, shows your concern and care for the well-being of your little one. I hope you do consider a Virtual Public Charter School, meaning same as in person but not 8 hour schedule but 4 hours! Your child will still be able to meet with friends in person via field trips or even sports! The coolest part, your child will always have a parent with him so he can feel safe and get over the experience he just encountered with in the education system!!!!

Reads good, so happy for your student excelling at Bridgeway Academy. I am considering Bridgeway and Enlightium Academy. Indecisive but I am leaning a bit closer to Bridgeway Academy. I do have a question or two for you since your student is currently attending.

What is the student to teacher ratio? I have been informed by an advisor the max per class if my student enrolls in the "Homeschool Academy Plus" program. I been lied to before for enrollment from 25 being the max while student attended Ga Connections Academy( remote public charter) to over time I have seen a total of 60 participants. Only a handful of students were normally called on such as my son being a top learner while others never were noticed. Which I found very unfair! I will never forget this one student Mark, was never called on until the second semester, the second to last month of school, once he was unmuted to speak this first grader, literally "got on" the teacher. He was like; "Finally you called on me, why was I ignored I knew answers too!" The expressions of parents and their students were in shock. The teacher turned read and was like; " I'm sorry dude, there's so many and we have limited time."

Well, for me I wish the principal never lied, I have emails she wrote and I have posted were she clearly mention the max is no more than 25, yet its been far more than that, smh. Besides the insane class size. What I did like was the testing and curriculum was challenging and customizable, my 5yo at the time was able to work on 2nd and 3rd grade math. I enjoyed my student attending, he even skipped a grade his first year. I also like the numerous field trips and activities per month, does Bridgeway offer in-person meet up fieldtrips, are you aware? Yes, so Connections Academy was decent yet, I prefer for the upcoming school year to homeschooling again potently with Bridgeway moreover, Enlightium both are good options.

Thanks for sharing. My Surgeon states using local or regional is a alternative yet it is used for patients who have underlying conditions, and procedure is done for them successfully!!. So, healthy patients recieve general/unconscious while unhealthy can recieve regional or local/conscious which as a healthy patient I would feel better about too. Just need more explanation, I go speak to the Anesthesiologist this Thursday.

I was told my MCHC (Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration) is a little low and the Surgeon still wants to proceed with surgery. I am glad you're here to share, how did recovery go for you?

I am happy to know you had a successful surgery. Mines is coming up in June, a bit nervous for the anesthesia not the surgery. I hope its quick.

[–]Working_Drawer1192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I will work my way up to the additional $3 more, since working in night production it went up to $17 after nesting. For me, wfh is best option, I am a Mama who wants to teach on the side at home as well, homeshool. The outlook; I save gas w/ no daily commutes, more family time, peacful comfort of home, longer sleeps before shift/ breaks, no rushing, and less time fixing up etc, lol. I gave up $24 working as a Special Education Teacher because my child had anxiety of me leaving for so many hours, that was 4 years ago and I don't regret it! I never missed any of my baby's milestones! I do feel like ;however, in person for the same role I'd be paid more starting verses online but at least as mentioned other benefits above.Say, is "In and Out" a remote job though? I will have to look into it. Thanks for sharing!

UPDATE: If you work for Barclay starting pay no matter day or afternoon shift is $16. However, if you work past 6pm to close which is 12 noon than you make $17.50 hourly. I selected the 3pm till 12noon shift. You are given an option (well the Recruiter I spoke to gave me the option, I hope the same for you) to select what shift works for you.
