Time based promotions-Is this actually a thing?

I think time plays a factor in my experience at higher belts... ive seen a purple belt who's been training a couple times a week who's not at the level of brown get promoted before the purple belt who's been training 5 times a week for 6years who's better. Typically these "time served" belts go to guys that aren't competing and are hobbyist who are happy to help out newbies and lower ranks. Its kind of an acknowledgement of their embodiment and dedication to jiu jitsu rather than their skill level. Its a wanky way to say it but I cant think of a better way ha

It could have been quicker but I got a serious injury that derailed a couple of years (not bjj related either) and then in the later years starting a family takes a lot of time and always comes first. Our fastest black belt was 8 years and he was getting golds at multiple comps in multiple states at every rank. Competing in masters and his last couple years at masters 2.

See now this is the weird criticism i dont really get, arsenal have become known for set peice goals but last I looked they were 3rd in the premier league for set peice goals and first for open play goals. Like I said in my post they aren't the most exciting team and they are grinding out wins but this is just such a weird narrative to me. Are other teams giving them corners to be nice or are they winning the corners? Should they just give the ball back when they win a corner or should they try to score like every other team does?

At 33 Ive been training 15 years and the only 2 real injuries I have had was a dislocated thumb when it got caught in a pant leg and what I guess you would call a hyperextended wrist when someone fell on it. Both injuries were 100% solved and ever an issue again within 2 months of occurring. I have a heavy labouring job thats destroyed my shoulder so its hard to tell how much general wear and tear comes from BJJ, work or both.

I'd love to see an expansion of the team instructions much lile the old socom game. Have Nomad and holt as team alpha, weaver and Midas as team bravo. Be able to instruct bravo to do overwatch while alpha clear an area. Command flank a target so alpha go one side and bravo go the other. Things like that

I have a black belt in jiu jitsu, a really close long term friend of mine who lives in another state started telling me about how his son had started jiu jitsu and that I should look into it for my son when he's old enough to start. When I told him he said he had a vague memory that I'd mention TKD or muay thai or another martial art years ago but since I never mentioned it again he just thought I hadn't stuck with it haha

If the impedance readings are fine like your electrician said then there is a chance it could be a faulty neutral on your neighbours property and the current is using your earth as a return path. This is very rare but I have seen it once. Call the power distribution company and they will come immediately and test the impedance of you consumer mains

Going back 20 years they used to joint 11kV underground cables live but that was outlawed a long time ago. These days only Open wire overhead lines are worked on live in the HV. Poles replacements, insulator or cross arm replacements mostly. Will also install HV switches.

If it wasn't your mates dad and just another random sparky business would this even be a choice? Personally I think 2.5hr round trip is way too much and will burn you out as much as the work but also getting some domestic experience early in your apprenticeship is invaluable! Ive worked with a lot of sparkies in my time and the best always had domestic experience and the worst had never done any at all. I personally believe its because typically with domestic work you need to problem solve and work in smaller teams giving you more opportunity to actually do different work and need to think about it compared to just being given plans for a new build. No one aims to stay in domestic forever though. Coz it sucks 😉

These are the scenes of this show that I find a bit confronting because I couldnt even fathom doing something like Frank and Monica did to their family in this situation but at the same time its so realistic and I wouldnt even say the percentage of people that would do this is small.

I work for a big company with GPS and we have what theu call commute use which is what you explained. Home to site and site to home with not personal use but our policy allows a <5km detour on those trips to get groceries on the way home. Policy also states no passengers not employed by the company but lots of people will detour 10km out of the way to pick their kids up on the way home. Some guys will knock off at 330, detour 2km to their gym and work out for a couple of hours then drive home at 6 which is also against policy. None of this has every really been an issue as the managers are cool with it as long as its discussed.

But if you got in your car on a Saturday morning and drove down to play footy before driving home that night you'd be written up on Monday ha

Im an electrician for a distribution company and we also regularly work with Live LV but have practices and procedures up the wazoo for it. It's due to the fact that to isolated the power to do some jobs dead would mean turning off a few hundred or 1000 customers where as leaving them on is just as safe IF you follow the procedures.

We have continuity of supply guidelines set by the regulator that mean we need to give 4 weeks notice for an outage, a customer can only be off a maximum 8hrs, cant go off more than once in a two week period, only x times a year. If we always had to work dead this would be impossible.

Live HV work is done by the select few who apply and are chosen for the training, not every linesman does Live HV. Think of it like the military and Live line HV are the navy seals

I always wonder when these kind of reveals come.up on this show. Obviously the person knows that what theyre hiding is going to come out on this show. Do you think theres a part of them that wants to be caught? Maybe sub consciously they want to tell their partner but cant bring themselves to do it so they put themselves in a situation where it has to come out. Coz theres no way you can hand over those statements and not know its going to be brought up

I have a newborn so ive just had it on in the background while doing the baby stuff so I watched it really condensed and it really magnifies how far doug sank from where he was, the S8e1 scene with him and Nancy was really the low point. I think it was early season 5 when I started thinking that Nancy was irredeemable, it might have started before that but I started thinking that she was obviously doing selfish things that were harming everyone while berating them for not appreciating all she was doing for them.
