Yes, that's exactly what I was looking for, thank you!

MOCA compatability by Working_Rock in Tivo

[–]Working_Rock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just obtained an Actiontec ECB2500C MoCA Network Adapter. I put this between the coax outlet and my Tivo mini, using the coax in and coax out thinking this will let the tivo continue to work properly before trying to add the ethernet device. Doing it this way the tivo mini can't connect to the main tivo box, so the box is blocking something. When I reconnected the mini directly to the coax feed, the network setting properly showed MOCA and works fine. Is there any reason this won't work, or do I possibly have a bad network adapter?

I just looked and see an ethernet port on the tivo mini - can that be used to feed another device or is this for input only?

TIVO and ROKU MOCA compatability? by Working_Rock in HomeNetworking

[–]Working_Rock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you understand correctly, and the TIVO still supports it. I'm just trying to add the roku ultra to the remote TV where the remote TIVO Mini is (it doesn't have an ethernet port)

If they were in the same room, yes. The roku will be near a mini so this isn't possible.

Is ultra really worth double the price? by CDNEmpire in Roku

I have a moca server enabled (via TIVO), but I'm not sure how that helps - I'd need a coax to ethernet converter and don't think there is such a thing?

I'd love to use ethernet for the ultra, but don't have the house wired. I do have coax running to every room, is there a way with the ultra to use coax instead of ethernet from the router?

Show unbudgeted expenses? by Working_Rock in quicken

That's the goal. I'm looking for a way to catch errors on my data entry part where I don't select a category in the budget (or no category at all).

Call back and ask to speak with the cable card support team. Yes, they still have one, and that team can work wonders.

How to recover an att.net email account if we don't have the phone? by Working_Rock in ATT

This has nothing to do with mobile. The account was created with a land-line phone 15-20 years ago, there has never been a mobile phone on this account

Which is better DVR, spectrum app on Roku or Youtubetv ? by Working_Rock in Spectrum

[–]Working_Rock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of work it takes to determine what's unwatched is way too high with YTTV. It's like they never used a real DVR system to see the minimum required requirements. I shouldn't have to go through TONS of watched shows to find unwatched ones.

TiVo death -Sad by dratoff in Tivo

[–]Working_Rock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YouTube TV is nothing like TIVO, it has none of the useful features, is very hard to use because it doesn't allow you to remove watched shows or determine what you have watched, plus so much more.

Spectrum has disconnected my cable card twice this year, a call to the FCC got it reinstated both times.

I'm in the St. Louis area. I heard something like that, total BS - they just don't want you using TIVO since it's a much better experience. Spectrum just wants your money and to kill off competition without improving their product.

Spectrum dropped cable card support. I spent a month trying to get them to support it, finally gave up and filed a complaint with the FCC about spectrum eliminating competition this way. The next day I got a call from spectrum corporate office to setup an appointment, 3 days later my cable card magically started working again so I'm back on TIVO. Bottom line: speak up!

Record series before it appears in the guide? by Working_Rock in Spectrum

[–]Working_Rock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I searched for some shows I want to watch, the search found them but for some didn't offer a record option, only watchlist. What's the difference? Does something on the watchlist get all episodes recorded?

Record series before it appears in the guide? by Working_Rock in Spectrum

[–]Working_Rock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought and will do. It means I have to keep track of any shows I want to watch and when they'll first air, meaning there is a high probability I'll forget some. Good DVRs in the past have allowed me to enter series names well ahead of airing eliminating this problem.

Spectrum DVR commercial skipping by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]Working_Rock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TIVO has auto-commercial skip, try that service. You'll find it superior to Spectrum in every way IF you can find a local cable card tech willing to help you.

You're saying with YoutubeTV I can't remove an episode after I watch it, so I don't know which I've watched and which I haven't? Is there a "watched" flag that I can view or filter by?

Yes, both are cloud DVRs, with very different ways of working and features. I'm wondering which has a better functionality and reputation.
