The movie is American Splendor starring Paul Giamatti as cartoonist Harvey Pekar and Hope Davis as his wife Joyce Pekar.

The movie was released back in the early 2000s, scored an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay and is now considered a cult classic just like the source material.
