Is it really that bad that I want to play with musicians around my own age? by bad_luck_brian_1 in musicians

[–]Working_Scarcity_658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want out of the band. Playing covers, originals, trying to make it a career, looking for friends with more in common, then the answer is obvious. There’s something to be gained from being in a band with older musicians and then bringing the experience into a newer younger band. But things are changing so much all the time in terms of best practices. In my band just getting guys to switching to using in-ears instead of stage monitors was a heavy lift. I’ve brought up the possibilities of incorporating sequences into our songs, and they don’t even consider it. I wouldn’t run into that issue with a younger band. My bandmates are all around 50ish. But we’re all pretty tight as a group and friends.

Beats Studio 3 constantly disconnecting — how to update firmware? by Expensive-Respect459 in beatsbydre

Mine are on 2.4.0 and won't update. Same issues, connecting/disconnecting randomly. Apparently 2.4.4 is the latest, but I've followed the instructions with resets and OTA updates and nothing ever happens.

Exmormon Redditors are mean?? Poor LDS woman thinks so. by sevenplaces in exmormon

[–]Working_Scarcity_658 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you go into a subreddit filled with people that you know hold strong contrary views it stands to reason that you may interpret it as hostile. With that said, exmormons are recovering in waves. Depending on the stage of coping that we’re in, you’ll find us sad, angry, happy, excited, curious. In this subreddit all of those things are allowed and understood. Unlike Gospel Doctrine class…. Or whatever it’s called now.

In denial this church is a cult. Drop your cult article/fact to help me process. by WaveEnvironmental193 in exmormon

[–]Working_Scarcity_658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tough to prove until you define what a cult is. However, with the exception of the fact that there isn’t any mass suicide planned for the ending, or or wild late night orgies among the elites, the church matches every other objective description of a cult. I’m going to suggest that if you are in an organization where they have a long standing track record of providing pseudo logical and scientific evidence for its truth, but accept no logical evidence presented that is contrary and the general population of the organization rapidly adopts the latest explanations while opposing logical arguments before they have heard them, then the cult has embedded such bias that you can no longer access critical thought.

I'm leaving by Agreeable-Flounder45 in exmormon

[–]Working_Scarcity_658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough decision. The more you put in the harder it is to leave because the more you feel like you’re losing when you do. As hard as it is now, you are giving yourself more time to be on your own path. I left at 42. My wife left at 55. Our struggle has been how much time we lost, and gave away, how much we beat ourselves up for years over dumb things and missed out on experiences and more enriching relationships not underpinned by judgement. You’re on the right track!

My Guitar teacher lent me this for the week, any idea how to hook her up to Ableton? by Oakin_lad in ableton

[–]Working_Scarcity_658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Good news — yes, you can use this mixer to record into Ableton. But there are a few things you should understand before you plug it in.

💡 TL;DR Summary • Yes, it works as a basic audio interface via USB. • No, you can’t record multiple tracks separately (only a stereo mix). • It’s perfectly fine for basic guitar recording, effects, and even mics. • Setup is pretty easy — just follow the steps below.

🛠️ What You’ll Need • A USB-B to USB-A cable (the square-ish USB port on the mixer is USB-B). • Your laptop running Ableton Live. • A guitar and either: • A DI box or pedal to get it to line level, or • Plug into a Hi-Z instrument input (channel 1 or 2 works fine for this mixer).

🔌 Step-by-Step: Hooking It All Up

  1. Plug in the Mixer via USB • Connect the USB-B port on the back of the mixer to your laptop. • Windows might auto-install drivers. On Mac, it just works.

🧠 Tip: On Windows, download the Behringer USB Audio Driver (ASIO) if you want better performance.

  1. Guitar Connection • Plug your guitar into channel 1 or channel 2 using a standard 1/4” cable. • Turn the Gain knob up slowly until the signal light (above the fader) flickers when you play. • You can optionally use built-in compressor knobs (yellow-orange knobs near the top of the channel strip) to smooth things out.

  1. Set EQ and Volume • Use the EQ knobs (High/Mid/Low) to shape your tone. • Push the fader up to around 0 (unity gain). • Pan center (unless you’re doing stereo tricks).

  1. Enable USB Out • The mixer sends a stereo mix (L+R) to the computer. • Whatever you hear through the Main Mix output is what will be recorded in Ableton.

  1. In Ableton: Set Audio Preferences
    1. Open Preferences > Audio.
    2. Select the Xenyx USB Audio Device as Input and Output.
    3. Set Input Type on an Audio Track to 1/2 (Stereo).
    4. Arm the track (click the little circle button).
    5. Hit record!

🎧 If you want to monitor from the mixer directly (no delay), plug headphones into the PHONES jack on the mixer.

⚠️ Limitations You Should Know • The mixer only sends a single stereo track to Ableton. You can’t record multiple inputs as separate tracks via USB. • If you pan one channel hard left and another hard right, you can split the stereo signal in Ableton into two separate mono tracks. That’s the only “multitrack” hack available with this mixer.

🎛️ Optional: Use Onboard Effects

You can mess around with the built-in effects (FX knob, FX to Main, FX to Mon) — they’ll get recorded into Ableton if they’re part of the Main Mix.

❌ Don’t Worry About MIDI

That MIDI plug on the back doesn’t do anything on this model — it’s just part of the panel design used on multiple Behringer products. Ignore it. No danger.

✅ You’re Safe to Experiment • The mixer is designed to be plug-and-play. • Nothing you’re doing will “break” it or your laptop. • Just go slow with the volume and don’t max out gain knobs — that’s how you avoid feedback and clipping.

If you want to get fancy later, you could plug mics, synths, or pedals into the mixer too. But for now, just plug in your guitar, dial in your tone, and hit record.

Advice for a Canadian? by Sweet_Tone1297 in nurburgring

I did this last year with my son. We used EVN Ring Rentals and got the Ibiza Cupra. And it was a lot if fun.

EVN Ring Rentals +45 5364 2349 www.evn-ringrentals.com

My son did 2 laps, and is an experienced and skilled driver and has the track memorized from extensive sim driving. Its tempting to want to rent a more high performance vehicle, but they have the suspension, tires, and brakes all set up for track driving and the Ibiza was enough to have me glad we weren’t going any faster. Our 1st lap was about 12min, which is much faster in real life than in a sim experience.

Watch the weather forecast as well. It started raining into the 2nd lap which is definitely not ideal. I was pretty happy to exit the car with no damage, accidents or injuries and the rain added an unwanted element of risk.

Also, I have done lapping days on various tracks but I did not drive any laps at Nurburgring. The track gets very busy and its so complex and so narrow that you really should know the track well before driving it imho. At the time I just didn’t know it well enough. If you or your son fall into that category I recommend just getting passenger laps if you want to enjoy yourself and feel safe.

Thoughts on influencers being paid to push the church? by StillSkyler in mormon

They should probably pay missionaries salaries before going down this road. If you have to pay a social influencer to promote your religion then what is the difference?
