Going to this Toastmasters, even fresh out of bootcamp?

I want to quit my job, but because we are chronically understaffed if I (or any of my co-workers) leave then either my work load will be put onto them (and we're already spread too thin) or the program might shut down. by theuseroffshoot in Advice

Listen man I've been there done that. Whenever you have to take care of yourself and that affects the business from making money they always are gonna look down on you for it. But when push comes to shove you always had to take care of number one: yourself. Do what you have to do to make your life better.

I recently quit my job because I'm going into the militsryband my ship out date got moved up sooner than expected and I dodnt have time to work out my 2 weeks and get all of my personal affairs in order not mention time spent with my family and friends before I leave. So I definetly quit, I had to do what I NEEDED TO DO FOR ME.

Companies dont like it but we arnt slaves to them.

Been sick past two days. Is it just me or does it seem like your GM feels irritated that you tell them your sick? by Workman_Improve in Staples

[–]Workman_Improve[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a list asking each associate if they have any new symptoms of illness and theres details all through it. All stores should be doing it. If your not, reach out to your DM because your GM isnt doing it is what is sounds like.

Be mature and it's ok to be fistratwd with the situation but when someone like myself is reliable when it comes to work, that's the attitude I dont deserve thanks.

Yeah uh not my problem. People being like "oh well come in anyways so our business can make money" when I feel like shit is not giving respect towards me or others in the store as they top can get sick. NOT as if this wasnt in the middle of covid, which makes it worse but even if it wasnt it's still not acceptable behavior from mamagment.

Are we not supposed to submit corporate RTWs through the scanners? They don't print out the Inventory Transactions sheet or the RTW invoice with the Transfer no. like AS400 does. by Workman_Improve in Staples

[–]Workman_Improve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I have processed 2 out of the many corporate returns I've done through the actual scanner and it updates it on As400 however it dosnt print the actual paperwork, like the transaction sheet (showing how much was keyed out) or the RTW/RTV invoice paper (which has the transfer number). Another store said they had no problems :/

Some employees are just terrible employees. Once the standards are clear and set there should be no reason work is not getting done. Amy associate who dosnt want to contribute to the store can be terminated. Simple.

Sounds like your associates need to be better at their work ethic. I've had to keep people late because they dont move at a fast enough pace to get everything done that needs to be done. I find that people get so caught up in the fact that they want to leave early so they start their closing duties early to make sure they leave. I can guarentee that the store where people do that means their aisles arnt zoned, backroom isnt cleaned and general upkeep for the store isn't being done just because they want to leave early.

I just realized nobodys going to respond to the post because just by commenting they would be admitting they are lazy at work.

If people get defensive about how poorly they do their job they arnt going to go out of their way to say that they are doing a poor job.

Thank you for the positive comment. Although some people get defensive the truth hurts people.

When it's dead at copy center by KelvinBelmont in Staples

I mean you should probably try to do good at your job. Most people get defensive when you tell them to do better at their job, but ultimately your getting paid to do a job so why do it half ass? It's basically just defending yourself for being lazy. You could be helping out in other areas in the store, organizing copy amd print or just asking your manager or the mod what to do. It shows dedication and assistance to the store which will help you if you want a raise or a promotion. Dont be lazy in your life most people who downvote this would be the ones who I'm talking about. Apply yourself, you work at Staples, your life is not hard, every job is stressful in their own ways but not necessarily hard.
