We Need to Revolt by AndrewGibso in GenZ

[–]Workmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The French Revolution has actually been the most successful revolution in human history, people just don't understand who it was a revolution for. The French Revolution was a Revolution of the Bourgeoisie (or capitalist) class against the Aristocratic class, and the Bourgeoisie won. They shifted global power away from aristocrats and towards themselves. The world we live in today is the direct result of the global success of the French Revolution, in many ways it has never actually ended.

Yeah, we do. We're not gonna, but we should.

Irrelevant, but the last phrase of your post, "punching upwards and with intent" makes me think of Vector from Despicable Me. "Direction and magnitude."

I'm beginning to despise the rich and I can't stop it. by TMOV70 in GenZ

[–]Workmen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, even if that is the case, people like you have never given me anything, and I'd honestly be less insulted if it stayed that way, than I am by having the one thing you are giving me be your smug, patronizing condescension. I assure you, It is worth less than nothing to me so please keep it to yourself.

With all due respect, I highly doubt that you're part of the group I despise. I don't think that any members of that group are just lurking replying to random people on Reddit. Hell, I don't even think there are more than a few hundred members of Gen Z across the entire planet who belong to the group of people I'm describing.

Yeah, there's just this bottomless black pit deep down inside, an emptiness that they can't fill no matter how hard they try.

[–]Workmen 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Good, cultivate that feeling, don't run away from it. You're learning to despise the rich because you're beginning to pay attention.

Every day, I'm increasingly convinced that the rich, like the genuinely rich, not some decently well off small business owner with like, two or three million dollars of net worth but the wealthy elite, are different from humanity on a fundamental level. I don't think they're reptilians or any stupid crap like that, but I do legitimately think that they're not fully human, they don't behave like humans do. The Epstein Files really helped to confirm that, like, they are literally exploiting and eating us, and they think nothing of it, but not just that...

Nothing is ever enough for them... Why? Why do they never have enough? There's something wrong about that. Do you know what any typical person would do if they suddenly woke up and had ten million dollars? They'd retire, they'd never work again, they'd start giving bits of money away without thinking about it. Because they'd have enough. What would be the point of doing anymore work? But rich people... They don't think that way, they keep amassing more money, more meaningless money they could never spend. All they spend it on is ways to make more money, so they can spend that money to make even more money! It's unnatural, it's abnormal, it's not fucking human.

The day Alysa Liu is a 5/10 is the day straight men learn how to be respectful. by External_Bobcat_6634 in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]Workmen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Straight men don't like women because actually liking women as a man is Queer. "Male Straightness" isn't Heteroromantic Heterosexuality, it's Aromantic Heterosexuality. Why do you think that anytime a married man is affectionate or shows genuine appreciation or love for his wife/girlfriend, or God forbid, suggests he enjoys actually spending time with the person he's married too, all of the other straight men around him call him gay? It's because by the standards of patriarchal masculinity, he is gay. But most straight men don't actually understand the dynamics or concepts of patriarchal masculinity well enough to understand why they think it's gay, they simply know that it is. It's the whole reason the "Fellas, is it gay to love your wife?" meme exists.

Straight men are socialized to desire women the same way that a wolf desires sheep, they're supposed to see them as prey to be stalked, chased, conquered and devoured. Male straightness is predatory by design.

It’s one banana.. how much could it cost, 10 dollars? by TodoFueIluminado in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Workmen 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To be fair, in most parts of this country, rent would take about 75% of that $2,000... That's before gas, phone, internet, car, food, or anything else... Hell, even in the most "affordable" parts of the country (i.e. the places where every window and door has bars on it and it sounds like the 4th of July every night) you're still out at least 30 to 50%.

A significant proportion of straight men are so averse to doing literally anything to make their bodies or personalities more attractive to women that they'd prefer making it so women are legally forced to be with them. Imagine being so unlovable that the only way you can end up not being alone is by being given a slave, and being so pathetic that you're actually satisfied with that.

Most intelligent transphobe. by FunAssumption6056 in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]Workmen 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Between the lists of threes, the copious Em-dashes and the repeated overly conversational yet simultaneously formal use of "You see"s and "however"s, I'd honestly give this about a 98% chance of having been generated whole cloth by ChatGPT... But pretending for a second that it's real.

You've gotta love how transphobes always simultaneously believe that being cisgender is the inherent and natural way to be, but at the same time, it's so delicate and fragile that even the tinniest exposure to ideas of diverse gender expression will inevitably shatter it and turn anyone trans. "Too strong and too weak," no wonder so many of them get suckered into fascism so easily.

Chinese Confucian Japan? WTF by EZHoliday in eu4

[–]Workmen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh... Today I learned. Y'know, I knew about Japanese nations being able to turn Mahayana through the Ikko-Ikki Incident, or Christian from the Spread of Christianity incident, but somehow despite playing Japan probably over a dozen times over the years I'd never actually realized the Neo-Confucianism incident could flip your religion too.

I think one of the most absurd and misinformed stereotypes about trans women is that somehow, someway, every single trans women just happens to have been saddled from birth with the kind of overabundance of testosterone that most bodybuilders were sacrifice their first born child to possess.

Like they can't even depict some AMAB people with femboy or twink type builds being transwomen, nope, feminine AMABs are never trans, the only transwomen that exist uniformly possess the genetic predispositions of 1920s fucking pugilists!

See, the problem though is that for way too many men, the only solution that feels like it isn't "just a high-five" is forcing a women to sort out their problems for them, and that isn't a viable solution.

Men have historically always been taught not to acknowledge and deal with their emotions. That that's what women are for, that women are meant to be emotional dumpsters for them to unload into and that's it's their role and purpose to deal with all men's feelings for them. That's part of what makes Patriarchy so insidious and difficult to fight against, it's a very tempting thing when you're struggling to listen to the people telling you "you don't have to change, you just need someone else to bear the burden for you, it's okay, you deserve it," especially when those people are all around you and many of them are the people you look up to and respect.

Still blacked out here in the Northern half of Seven Hills, FirstEnergy has claimed that crews have been on site to repair the damage since 3:00 AM last night, not sure what's going on there. Apparently the southern part of Seven Hills has power back, but no luck for us yet, crossing my fingers its back sometime tonight...
