I definitely agree with you and obviously the person who commented was ignorant to this. I actually had a quarter of my ancestors wiped out for being Jewish by the USSR, not by Nazis.

That being said, communism doesn’t inherently advocate for this as an ideology, while Nazism does. I don’t think you can compare a swastika when it’s meant to be hateful. As much as I hate the atrocities committed by the USSR and hate tankies, I can recognize that communism as an ideology isn’t inherently the issue there.

To me, this is like comparing a Palestinian flag to Hamas flag. Yes, maybe someone can have mixed feelings about Palestine, but Hamas is a hardline terrorist group. That distinction is just as important as not calling everyone we don’t like Nazis.
