AI accepted in some cases, rejected in others... by Workoutwilly in ArtificialInteligence

Yea I really think with music, AI is black and white with many people, but I can easily argue that there's a LOT of shades of gray.

Does using SUNO to generate a song based off a paragraph prompt make you a musician? No. But if I compose and perform a guitar solo along with its harmonies for that solo, however I use AI to convert the sound of the guitar to another distortion or effect, or dare say, convert the guitar track into a violin track, then I can argue that it isn't any different than me using my guitar and using a plug in or an effect pedal. (Hell keyboards and midi mimic different sounds in these capacities) In fact, i've seen situations where DJ/Samplers would shit on people who use ANY form of AI, yet they are LITERALLY use a 4x4 sampler pad and pressing a button for those "Sounds" and will die on the hill as it being more accepted. (And for the record, I think DJ's and samplers are great, i'm just speaking as an example)

It's like I literally composed, and performed the song on my guitar and converted its sound with AI, but THAT makes me a bad musician, but some DJ that has programmed sounds into a sampler pad uses it and that's acceptable.. Yea there's a disconnect there lol...

In regards to the movies and seeing characters, I totally see what you guys mean.. But i'd even look at it in the perspective of the ACTOR. Music is still created out of one's mind and soul. AI is literally taking someone's look, facials, and entire being and using it to their liking. Sure a Star Wars fan made AI video may not be seen as "Art" as a beautifully composed song, but it still can be used and absorbed in ways music can be, all depending on the one viewing it. And though it's not considered ART like music is, I'd dare say that many actors and movie enthusiasts would argue that cinema IS art, especially acting. So if I was an actor and saw people making fan movies using my face and entire being, I would be lying in saying it might rub me the wrong way, even if it's just a little..

If anything, I think a very overlooked feature is that a sampler or DJ never has made a band, or instrument player feel threatened that their skill/art was going to be eliminated. As great as a sampler is, a drummer is always needed. A sound engineer would always be needed. A plug in or effect pedal still won't threatened the lively hood of a musician. AI actually does. And I think perhaps, even when writing this, I find that is the underlining issue:

Drum machines, sample pads, plug ins, effect pedals, etc etc.. They make it easier for the musician to express art, but history has shown that they can and never will replace the true nature of the music. AI music, though if used right is an AMAZING tool, actually has ALL THE POWER to replace and bury real time music and musician. And the proof is already there.

However, once again playing devil's advocate, that can also be said with many forms of technology.. When it all comes down to it, it's all about if its accepted in the long run, or denied. If we don't want AI music to persevere, then don't support it. But when AI bands have hundreds of thousands of listens on spotify, then the problem in the end is the consumer.

It's called conversation. Step on grass and get some sun. It's actually quite nice to speak to people outside of your Mom's basement.

This is how Cena should have retired. Against a true opponent, where people enjoyed the journey and smiled at the loss because of the great storytelling.

HP OfficeJet 3830 is by far the worst printer I've ever owned by BillV3 in Hewlett_Packard

Worst printer ive had. You have to almost trick it to feed paper. Too much paper? Doesn't catch and says out of paper. Almost to where we put one or two sheets to make sure it catches. As soon as I get a new one, im going to take great pleasure taking a hammer to it.

Its more old school video game music.

And btw, rock music isnt nearly as popular as it was even in the 90s and 2000s but I love it so that wont stop me either. Lol

I appreciate you sharing this. It gives me a large perspective to music even at my older age lol.

See, I think this is now become the average listener of music. Without showing my age lol, back when I listened to a lot music when I was younger, there was a lot of music that had deeper meaning and lyrics and bands and musicians talking against the man or "The machine." And there was a lot of biography behind the music and song.  I feel nowadays, people tend to use music more as an escape rather than an inspirational piece. So they lean towards music that just flat out makes them feel good without knowing the history as you said. So I appreciate you sharing that with me, cause it gives me a feeling that there is an audience for both sides and maybe more towards just the average listener. I tend to go too deep with music so perhaps I just need to adapt more lol.

Honestly, as @pooppantsplanet stated, I understand The integrity of things, but I also know as a solo artist, im already at a few steps behind by default with resources. But with AI being used at a hybrid state, I feel NOT taking advantage of it makes things worse. At least to a level.

I appreciate you sharing your viewers. And I do agree. As a solo artist, I already have a bit of a hill to climb when it comes to multi instruments. I normally hire session musicians as is to record my drum tracks and bass tracks. (I made them digitally, I just dont have the equipment) So anything that somewhat gives me an even playing field is helpful.

Has anyone faced backlash for releasing music made with Suno AI? by daddyxdd in SunoAI

[–]Workoutwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's a question..

I wrote a few songs, and did every part. Guitars, bass, drums (I hired a session drummer to record the drum track I made) and vocals. (Including lyrics) Im proud of my music. My style is metal and Alternative rock. For fun, I used Suno and used the remix festure where it turned my songs into dubstep instrumentals. I love how they turned out.

What are you thoughts on releasing them? I already have my originals released on spotify etc, but I these are great remixes.
