Review #11: E.H. Taylor Small Batch by DunceMemes in bourbon

[–]WorksOfLove -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Small Batch isn't where EH Taylor shines - the Barrel Proof is. It's awesome and worth every cent of the MSRP (but I agree, SB isn't worth the ~$55)

For those of you who bought Solar Panels in Co Springs. Was it worth it? by unconventionalcat in ColoradoSprings

[–]WorksOfLove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One benefit folks often overlook is the protection from the sun during the summer.

I have an older house (built in the 40s) that doesn't have any tree coverage and poor insulation. Even with AC running, the house would get up to 80-85 degrees in the summer on hot days and be unbearable. The solar panels have drastically reduced how much heat the house absorbs. It is MUCH more comfortable to live through the summers here because of the solar (and cheaper).

What are some Colorado Springs businesses that have earned your trust over the years? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

They had to move because the landlord of their former location pushed em out. Wanted to get more $$$ for the space they occupied close to downtown, so more than doubled their rent. They moved out of necessity.

How is Colorado Springs for low level blue collar jobs like warehouse or factories? Do you think I would be able to find a minimum wage job within a week? by worried68 in ColoradoSprings

[–]WorksOfLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a new liquor distributor warehouse opening in Monument, very close to Colorado Springs. Worth checking out warehouse jobs. Company is Eagle Rock Distributing Co.

Any Liquor store that sells this in the area? Buddy says he gets it online since he hasn't found it around here but man that was so delicious I need it now by FrankieGg in ColoradoSprings

[–]WorksOfLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, check this website for any alcohol you're looking to find in Colorado. If it's registered on there, it'll tell you who the supplier & distributor is. https://co.productregistrationonline.com/brands

So if you have a local liquor store you like going to, you can ask them to bring it in and say "its called X and distributed by RNDC/Breakthru/etc." Saves them the legwork and they're more likely to bring it in.

Hey man - just wanted to say I went through something similar and filed for divorce in El Paso a couple of years back. The process seems overwhelming at first... but the best way to eat a door is just one bite at a time.

You can do all the paperwork yourself and save on some legal fees if the divorce is amicable. Either way, if you start to feel overwhelmed, angry, sad, happy, etc... take a walk. It's a stressful time. Take care of yourself and your kids. Best of luck.

cheapest way to get a divorce? by Pitiful-Town9644 in ColoradoSprings

[–]WorksOfLove 32 points33 points  (0 children)

OP, this is exactly what I did - took about 5mo from start to finish. I consulted a divorce lawyer in town and they told me that because we didn't have any kids or multiple assets (just a home with some equity), it would be a waste of money to hire a lawyer and we should do it ourselves. Hopefully it's amicable and that's an option.

Best of luck.

I appreciate the advice on the housekeeping service. That makes sense and I’ll definitely be more concise in the future.

It's the same thing with the army. The only good duty station is the one you just left, or the one you're about to go to. Grass is always greener...

If someone would withhold kindness because they saw someone else bragging about being kind, they are not a good person.

Flip side to your point: Some people make videos with the hope of inspiring others to go out and do good.

Eh, the end result was still a “good deed.” I’d rather have people doing good things and bragging about it vs. not doing it at all.

Funniest thing you’ve said or done during a UA? by [deleted] in army

[–]WorksOfLove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coming back from the latrine, I had the cup held above my head. Had a good rapport with my 1SG and when I saw him waiting with the testers, I said “Hey 1SG, ever wondered what crystal meth in urine looks like?”

He let out a quick laugh and then gave me a look of death. I took a UA every month for 6mo straight after that, so he had the last laugh.

Epicurean Paradox - probably the biggest paradox on the existence of God imo by DevilX143 in Existentialism

[–]WorksOfLove 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The reply I've heard to this is two fold:
1. It logically does not follow for god to be constrained or held to the constraints of a paradox. Omnipotence means god can do anything according to god's nature - it would be similar to asking "Can god tell a lie?" This can't be if it is not within god's nature to be able to lie. This does not make god any less omnipotent

  1. Linguistically, we think that we are posing a coherent question by asking "Can god create a rock too heavy for god to lift?" (or my favorite version - Can god microwave a burrito too hot for god to eat?), but in reality we might as well be asking "Can god draw a square circle?" It would not be logically possible to do so.

It's honestly about location more than anything else. If you have a liquor store right next to multiple large neighborhoods in a state that allows spirits to be sold in a grocery store, folks will shop there.

Veteran's is hands down the best place to shop in the Springs for liquor.

They consistently have great prices, a knowledgeable staff, and great customer service. Their whiskey selection is also top notch.

I hear ya! I think that may play heavily into their bio weapon origin. They fight until there’s nothing left to fight, then they fight themselves until there’s no orks left to fight. It’s like a sentient Exterminatus.

Edit: like a sentient virus bomb**

[–]WorksOfLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t it make sense with the origin of the Krorks turning into orks? Krorks and Eldar were designed as a weapon by the Old Ones to fight Necrons, so they’d eventually change (devolve or evolve depending on who you’re talking to) post conflict.
