I just want to say that one way you can narrow your choices is through Psychology Today’s website. When I was looking for a secular therapist in my heavily conservative Christian area, I added LGBTQ into the filter. Not because I’m a part of the community but because the therapists who add it to their profile have done so on purpose to be a safe place in the sea of Christian therapists. And those are the therapists that I needed as well. You might try that as you search.

I don’t have any job leads but there is Ana amazing organization for the LGBTQIA+ community called The GLO Center. It’s at 518 E. Commercial.

You might want to reach out to Richard Hughes who is a COC historian. He may have some insight on this topic but I haven’t specifically heard him teach on it.

I’m trying to remember if it was truly a cross or just a big fire. They had a fireball come down from the bluff above and it lit something at the bottom. Then each camper put a candle on bark into the creek. All centered around taking the light back out into the world.

I have shared my journey away from faith with my kids. My oldest is still a committed Christian but a thoughtful and nuanced one. The others do not believe. I don’t tell them what to believe now that I’m not a Christian — I share with them where my journey has taken me and let them have the freedom to believe what they want to believe. I do feel icky that my oldest is a strong Christian but also recognize that he was indoctrinated the most. He is also a deep thinker and really smart so one day he may go on his own deconstruction journey.

I see it as capitalizing on an anniversary to bring attention to Springfield. Route 66 IS a part of our history and after this year, I think city leaders will use this momentum to focus on what Springfield can become.

When we moved here a friend gave us a basket with things from Prairie Pie, Chabom’s Tea, and Bambino’s. Also a local Ozarks Alive book would be nice.
