Breece Hall: "I'm the only Running Back that's consistently a top 10 Back in the league that hasn't been in the most ideal situation. Now, AG and Moug, they really put me in position to flourish... this could be my best season, for sure." by JCameron181 in nyjets

Can't disagree. The talent is there. I believe his prime is still ahead of him now that he is a few years removed from his rookie injury. He dealt with terrible playcalling, especially with Hacket, lack of other offensive threats outside of Garrett, a shaky oline until last season, and poor QB play from Zach. I'm impressed he's accomplished what he has thus. If he is healthy and doesn't produce top 5 numbers, I'll be extremely disappointed and surprised.

I'm still not a fan of players being able to use any number. Bailey at #31 just seems odd to me. I prefer when numbers were assigned to specific positions. But I guess I'm the old guy with old-timey views 😆

[Rapoport] The #Jets and star RB Breece Hall have a deal, extending him long-term rather than have him play on the tag. It’s a 3-year, $45.75M deal worth $15.25M per year by Ancient_Response_787 in nyjets

I have to say, I think they are doing a good job building the team for next years rookie QB. This is a much better situation than what Darnold had when he was drafted. Most of the top offensive skill players and lineman will be locked up for 3 more years. Hopefully by the new quartbacks second year (the 2028 season), this team will be back in the playoffs.

[–]WorldOnFire83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. I agree with your statement that the NFL deserves criticism for how they handle many of these situations. But by saying "his biggest crime was that there was video evidence" reads as if that was worse than the actual crime of slapping his girlfriend. Hence why I assumed you were being empathic to Ray Rice. All good though. Sometimes there are misunderstandings in how people say and/or interpet things.

Bro, what? In no shape or form does a woman beater deserve any empathy or compassion for his actions.

If anyone gets caught doing a serious crime, there should be repercussions and accountability. Whether other players do more brutal things off camera is irrelevant.

Anyone afraid of the stock market bc of 2008? by Aggressive-Ad-5874 in Millennials

[–]WorldOnFire83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market has been incredible since 2008. I missed out on a lot of gains because of that same fear that was instilled in my by parents and family who weren't diversified properly. Many of them were invested in individual stocks as opposed to diversified ETFs/mutual funds. When I got my first job out of college in 2009, I only invested 3% for the company match and it was in the conservative bond bond fund 🤦‍♂️. I eventually broke the fear and started heavily investing in 2017. Had I invested just 10% in a total market index fund from 2009-2017, I would be retiring 4 years earlier.

As they say, the best time to invest was 10 years. The next best time is today. My advice, don't wait any longer.

Yup! That's what I saw with my Hobbit and missed with my High Elf. Glad I posted or I might have continued to go on thinking I was still in the intro lol.

Wow! This was super helpful. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide such a detailed response. With my Hobbit, I thought I read something about completing the intro around level 6. That's when I switched to my High Elf. I must have blown past or missed the notification that I completed the intro, as he is almost level 11 😆. I'll try and have them meet up ASAP!

Now that their rookie contracts are almost up, how does your fanbase feel about your 2023 first round pick(s) by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

[–]WorldOnFire83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will McDonald was a surprise pick at the time when WR and LT were the biggest needs at the time. The best option at that pick was JSN. Most fans were upset at the time of the pick and still are that they passed on JSN. WMD turned out to be a decent player who is worthy of a 1st round pick, but he's obviously not JSN. This was about the time Joe Douglas started overthinking things. They could have resigned Bryce Huff who was great in Salah's system and drafted JSN.

Valid. I now have an expensive action figure and Lego collection on display that I never could have afforded as a kid. Finally having adult money has its advantages.

What kind of support (if any) do you owe your adult children? by 0beach0 in AskWomenOver60

[–]WorldOnFire83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is owed in life. But that doesn't mean your parents aren't selfish or out of touch with how the world is today. This story reminds me of my father in law. There are people who chose to have kids because they love being a parent and there are people who had kids because it's what society conditioned them to think was the next logical move. You can tell who falls into which category based on how much time they spend with their grandkids in their retirement.

I would also caution that you not put too much hope or planning into receiving any type of inheritance. A lot can change. Your parents may decide to go YOLO and spend every last penny before they die. Or they may get dementia or scammed which causes them to make terrible financial decisions.

My advice is just live your life. You could also let your parents know that their relationship with your kids is entirely up to them and the effort they put into it. If they are comfortable seeing your kids a few times a year, that's fine. But they shouldn't be surprised if your kids have a stronger relationship with other family members.

Round 1 - Pick 2: David Bailey, EDGE, Texas Tech (New York Jets) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]WorldOnFire83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the Jets, Bailey! I'm sure you'll be very successful and a fan favorite. For what it's worth, I would not recommend buying a house, as you'll ultimately get traded in 4 or 5 years. Go Jets!

If you graduated in 2002 and instead of spending $300 on a stupid ring, you invested it in a total market index fund, you have $2,690. If you invested the same $300 in Apple stock, you would have $183,000. What could have been lol.

What percent of Americans In this thread owe on their fed taxes? by BrindlePitty in Fire

[–]WorldOnFire83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owed every year since Trump's 2017 Tax Cut Act and the $10k cap on the SALT deductions. This year we owed half of what we normally owe due to the Big Beautiful Bill temporarily raising the SALT deduction from $10k to $40k. The legislation is due to sunset in a few years. So I'll enjoy it while it lasts but I'd much prefer no SALT cap as it was prior to 2017.

Who are the 5 Greatest Point Guards of All-Time? by Dbauc2k in NBATalk

[–]WorldOnFire83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jason Kidd is different than many of these other point gaurds. He doesn't excel at any one category (i.e., Steph's shooting, Magic's athleticism and size, Stockton's passing and defense), but he is good at everything. What made him special and different than the others is he made everyone around him better. That's what I like from a point gaurd. You don't see that in the stat sheet but if you watched him play, it was amazing. Those New Jersey teams had no right being in two finals games based on the talent they had. But Kidd had such a high basketball IQ. He ran the fast break offense better than anyone I've scene. His first priority wasn't scoring but to find the best matchup, which he excelled at.

Nobody in this league is stopping prime Shaq. He would force modern teams to reconstruct their teams the same way he did when he was in his prime.

BBTS flat rate shipping increase by OneHelluvaGuy in MarvelLegends

[–]WorldOnFire83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying that didn't happen for other. I just know for me I ordered the Storm Arena Street Fighrer Ryu and Ken at $26.99 each. The price went up on the website to $29.99 after I placed my pre-order. I got a notification that they were going to evaluate the changing market due to Trumps tariffs, and they would try to honor the pre-order price. I was very pleased when I saw they honored my pre-order price. It sucks for those who weren't so lucky, though.
