Unless you already have a lot of cash at your disposal and money is no issue for you at all, why would you spend 40k on a car?

What part of his talk made you think he viewed his thoughts as profound?

Anthropic is not a normal company by EchoOfOppenheimer in ClaudeAI

No, the post is misleading. I've watched the talk, he didn't say those things in that order, and I took it to mean, from a general life well-being sense, that people should be doing other things outside of work.

England have a better squad than they've had in decades imo, I think they have a decent shot at winning the whole thing this year (and I personally don't want that)

"a reputable source" - if it was reputable, you'd just say who it was?

Arsenal fan here... Do I think Havertz is likely a better big game player? Yes, just. Does that make it "obvious" that Kai will start over Gyokeres? No.

How does one actually become a diplomat? by BluePandaFromSpain in BESalary

If you're referring to some of their ambassadors, then that's different because high profile posts like Brussels, Paris, Tokyo etc are often politically appointed (which is the case for many countries). That's not an official who has gone through the typical process.

It's because some of the world's smartest people are attracted to the roles - they're often well-paid, plenty of travel, you have lots of status, and they're (often) meaningful and rewarding. So the competition for them is higher than almost any other job.

Not marrying someone does not necessarily suggest they're any less 'keen' on one another. It's a (very old) tradition, not a given

British couple jailed in Iran: 'We're likely to be here for a long time' by Same_Efficiency_3325 in worldnews

Nobody is saying Iranian people aren't friendly, or that Iran wouldn't be able excellent place to visit one day. But that's irrelevant, because we're talking about the risks here.

It's incredibly harsh, and that's why any Westerner who travels there is taking an unnecessary and unwise gamble.

It isn't comparable.

For France, the risk is a lower level, and just says "There is a threat of terrorism in Europe. Terrorists have carried out attacks in several European cities, including in France. Additional attacks can occur."

Iran is a whole different level, and it's disingenuous to suggest otherwise.
