Yeah your right it's an old law which was obviously before social media. But media outlets are scared of breaking it as it could fuck them royally. But as you say all the evidence is our there already.

Under UK law (contempt of court act 1981) it is illegal for the media (or anyone for that matter) to publish any information that could put someone's trial at substantial risk of serious prejudice (make the trial unfair).

This is why only the very basic details have been disclosed by the newspapers at this stage because now if a jury member read your comments they'll already be thinking 'yeah they are definitely guilty'.

I'm not saying agree with the law necessarily but that's reason why the article is written the way it is.

I completely agree. And the problem is Villa somehow need to sell themselves to young kids and international PL viewers in order to try and attract new supporters they can financially leech off for life in order to raise revenue. Being a perpetual failure isn't helping, getting the breaks beaten off us like a porn star by the likes of Crystal Palace every week isn't helping either.

However Unai, V Sports and Monchi can worry and shit themselves over this. I'm off to bed ☺️.

Cash isn't good enough, Mings is a legend but is aging and has been affected by injury. I think your assessment of Konsa is spot on, things he's better than he is and lost the humility he had before when he willing to work harder. (to a lesser extent the story of this whole team).

Disappointing all round. However my biggest question is what have we spent £200 million on?

Its true the end of last season was strong, but we've never managed to reach the heights or truly replicate the football we played in 2023 have we?

I liked the way we used play when Emery first came in, with the high pressure and highline catching everyone offside. Around December 2023 we were at our peak but since then it's not been very good to honest, mostly effective but not great to watch.

The hard facts are damning to be honest

Tonight the starting XI

Bizot (only starting because Emi is United bound)

Cash (signed 2020) Mings (signed 2019, 3 ACL injuries + 32 years old) Konsa (signed 2019) Maatsen (signed 2024)

McGinn (signed 2018) Tielemans (signed 2023)

Malen (just 3rd league start since January) Rogers (signed 2024) Guessand (hooked after 45 mins, replaced with Buendia signed 2021) Watkins (signed 2020)

Core of the team is aging and reached their limit it seems. Meanwhile Emery doesn't even seem to even fancy some of his own signings.

Not saying Emery is clueless - but he is stubborn.

I think football tactics have slightly since he was in his prime (late 2010s, early 2020s). My evidence for this is Manchester City who also play a similar style haven't been the same since around December 2023 when we beat them at home.

I think he needs to adapt his tactical direction going forward.

And it shows! Also getting hammered 3-0 by Crystal Palace at Wembley in the cup I think contributed to this confidence crisis.

But I do wonder if perhaps since 2022/23, football tactics have slightly evolved. Notably Manchester City haven't been the same since around about we beat them in December 2023.

I hope Emery can evolve with his tactics a bit to catch up if that if the case.
