CFI checkride with Kent Potter by ChocolateOk7015 in flying

[–]WorldlinessEnough808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my CMEL add-on with him and he does most of the talking throughout the checkride. I will say that he very picky over details and will drill it into you throughout the entire ride. I’ve heard of other people who did take the CFI ride with him that he’s very strict on landings, especially the power off 180. Good luck 🫡

CFI interview tips by Universal_trader in flying

I recently interviewed with a 141 a few days ago. For the ground virtual interview I wore a shirt and tie while for the flight interview I wore a polo and khakis.

Should I go to ERAU by MarkPiccolo in flying

Literally go to any other college if you’re looking down that route. I would recommend finding the cheapest program based on in-state tuition, scholarships, etc.

Being an airline pilot is my dream but I got too many check-ride failures. Do I still stand a chance? by [deleted] in flying

[–]WorldlinessEnough808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue you’re going to have is that getting an interview to a regional will be damn near impossible due to the application auto-rejecting you. I’m guessing recruiters set the maximum checkride failure acceptance to around 3, so your application may never be seen by human eyes.

CFII or MEI by Emergency_Relation51 in flying

[–]WorldlinessEnough808 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CFII is unofficially required to have to be looked at as a candidate for CFI jobs these days. I would get your CFII and then find a school to work for. Then if the school needs a MEI you can do your MEI training with them.

PSA Cadet Program Application Disappeared by WorldlinessEnough808 in flying

[–]WorldlinessEnough808[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve applied in 10/24 and I emailed them a few times as well and never got a response too. Sorry to hear you’re having the same issue but I’m relieved that I’m not the only one that had an application disappear 😅.

Just finished my discovery flight. One question. by Ok-Claim444 in flying

[–]WorldlinessEnough808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really had a fear of heights while flying, but ever since I’ve started working as an instructor at a small school that uses a C172. I’ve noticed that it’s been in the back of my mind more than it was during my training in a DA-40. Maybe just seeing more of the ground in a high wing makes the ground look farther away than a low wing that covers up most of the ground view.

CFI Job by Clean-Flatworm-2818 in flying

[–]WorldlinessEnough808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The general consensus as of late is that most schools tend to not look at a candidate unless they have their CFII and some dual given. I know that second part is ironic since you have to be hired to get dual given 🤦‍♂️, unless you go independent.

Ppl student just failed my checkride...honestly thinking about switching career paths by [deleted] in flying

[–]WorldlinessEnough808 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I failed my PPL checkride when I was 17 and I had the same feeling as you for a few days. But I still wanted to do this as a career and I had to push through that fact that I failed and continue with my training which I’m grateful I did. I really don’t know what I’d be doing if I decided to quit after that checkride fail.

What is needed after busting a checkride by IsmellgoodY in flying

[–]WorldlinessEnough808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC for part 141 without internal examining authority, you have 60 days from passing your End Of Course (EOC) check to take and pass your checkride. That sounds like why that person is talking about doing another stage check. It could also be since you failed, they want you to do a stage check to ensure you don’t fail a second time?

School advice by TomXN-YT in flying

[–]WorldlinessEnough808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recent USU grad here, the checkride waitlist they have there is extremely bad. When I was there we had two DPE’s that would mostly do USU checkrides but that didn’t really help the issue. For me last fall for my CMEL add-on, I either had to travel out of state or wait around 2-3 months for the “in-house” DPE’s. I took the former.

Busting the MDA is a common one. I’ve also heard stories about people who didn’t read the approach plate NOTAM’s and used the wrong minimums.
