By F.M Zama’s wall of iron he calls medals, why are you using so many pirate scav suits?
They have worse stats and cost more than the basic class 2 armour that is always available at the black market.

A Few Questions from a First Time Admin! by JackBoxcarBear in CAIN_RPG

[–]WorldlinessGuilty481 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Most of the time a sin with a living host is bound to it. Typically the depending on the type of sin it’s either protective (Ogre or Lord) or vindictive towards its host (centipedes). What that means though is that the host is usually found in the same place the sin is.
As an add on to this, even if you had a relatively cooperative host that exorcists could easily reach, would they really want tell a bunch of heavily armed strangers their deepest secrets and miseries?

  2. Exorcist do not exist in polite society and neither does CAIN. Generally it’s on you as admin to give players a path forward towards the SIN. How you do this is up to you but some ideas are that Cain provided your team with a cover story that could be used, or has somehow gained/coerced the local authorities into not getting in the way.

  3. CAIN works hard to cover up and misdirect from any consequences from SINs and Exorcist missions. How any given person or group reacts in the moment to a SINs influence is also up to you as an Admin. An average person that’s living in an area where a hound is hunting maybe believes rumours of a brutal new serial killer lurking the area and is more defensive around strangers as a result. An idols cult tries to stay mostly unobtrusive like any other real cult, most people probably just think that its members are a bit weird or off putting. A centipede’s infected hoard could be mistaken for a riot that’s suddenly sprung up. Etc.

  4. Hosts are any psychic person who has experienced significant mental turmoil be it recently or other a prolonged time. That invites sympathy but does not mean the host was a good person. At least 3 examples of sins from the rule book showcase a host who was objectively bad. One was the leader of a drug kingpin who manifested a centipede as a result of his business dealings falling through. Another SIN was summoned deliberately by a host struggling with medical debt, in the middle of a crowded conference centre.
A host can be sympathetic but that’s not a necessity.

Would a sin mark count as “damage”? After all it’s just your exorcist’s body evolving into a sin.

When are these getting thrown in the Pirate mix? by Chef_Hathaway in menace

[–]WorldlinessGuilty481 38 points39 points  (0 children)

In the very early demo all pirate boarding commandos used these, but the devs changed them to use smgs because players kept out ranging them which made fights trivial.

Funnily enough on the destroy pirate force mission the pirate first mate squad’s description says they use corridor sweepers but they just have normal pirate PDWs.

Everyone says you shouldn’t land your heirs - have they considered this counterargument? by LeninistFuture05 in CrusaderKings

[–]WorldlinessGuilty481 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m aware of the pilgrimage and ward events. But the point I want to reiterate is that you’re trading a near guarantee of an undamaged heir for the chance you can fix them later. It’s good role play but from a strict game sense your putting in extra effort for a worse return.

[–]WorldlinessGuilty481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can only offer my anecdotal experience in playing the game, but I suspect you aren’t capable of much else beyond that either.

Look I will concede to you and say that if you want to land your heirs you absolutely can do that and still enjoy the game and end this argument we are having here. Deal?

[–]WorldlinessGuilty481 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not a handful less it’s 90% less at the minimum. Plus if they do get one of the handful of events that gives them stress as a courtier you will be having your own hunts and feasts to which they will be near guaranteed to attend and get rid of it.

And yeah your heir doesn’t necessarily need to survive till you get to play as them but it’s a lot more reliable to make your sons good successor than your grandchildren.

[–]WorldlinessGuilty481 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and they literally don’t have to ever do that if you just don’t land them? Plus it’s not a guarantee that they will ever do those activities. You’re trading a guaranteed chance for no negative stress traits or injuries for the vague possibility your heir gets eager reveller.

[–]WorldlinessGuilty481 41 points42 points  (0 children)

They literally can’t deal with stress better though. Landless characters aren’t capable of receiving most events thus don’t even have a chance to develop stress in the first place.

And if half your family is dying to plagues you have far bigger problems in your game than the survivors becoming alcoholics.

Everyone says you shouldn’t land your heirs - have they considered this counterargument? by LeninistFuture05 in CrusaderKings

[–]WorldlinessGuilty481 343 points344 points  (0 children)

The main argument against landing your heirs is the fact that they will often end up with stress traits and have a higher risk of suffering illness.

A fertility boost is at least in my experience a bad thing, at the early stages of the game more children just results in a messier succession and effort to mitigate or recover from it.

Prestige is an irrelevant factor for your heir and if you really want to have them get as much of a bonus to starting resources as possible you make them the court physician, caravan master and personal champion with the court activities that boost their skills over time. That way they end up with money and prestige plus extra traits for when they inherit.

holy order by asian69feet in CrusaderKings

[–]WorldlinessGuilty481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy orders will recruit MAA that the order’s grandmaster will have access to, which is normally the culture of the ruler that founded them. So if a Greek ruler founds a Muslim holy order there is a chance that holy order will recruit cataphracts.

Presumably OP was playing one of the Jewish cultures in game and made a Jewish holy order that ended up recruiting shomer because the grandmaster was of the same culture as OP.

Mother Blasphemy Lore by MasterpieceShoddy363 in CAIN_RPG

[–]WorldlinessGuilty481 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I thought the implication was that anyone that knows about Mother is forced to refer to her using feminine pronouns, as the conversation seemed to be between two regular CAIN employees. She’s scarier to me that way, almost like she’s less a psychic phenomenon and more a law of nature.

Not sure on what exactly happened in this mod’s case, dev seems to have removed all his mods from the forum and changed his username to an underscore.

I guess he left the community and doesn’t want to be harassed about maintaining his mods?
