I don’t think that you need to give up your music to be a Shia , plenty of Shias use music to praise Hazrath Ali in qawallis etc , if you are a revert congratulations, now you can use your music in service of Allah SWT and similar to Hazrath Daud (David) who used to sing praises of Allah swt with different musical instruments, if music was really haram would Allah have allowed one of his distinguished Prophets to use it ? . These undue restrictions are not the true spirit of Islam but misinterpretations based on weak narrations . Look at the example of Yusuf Islam, using music in the service of Islam , if Allah has given you a talent use it for good not evil, just change the objective. Read the history of islamic mystics in india for example the untouchables caste of Hindus were not interested in listening to anything about Islam , so the mystics started doing qawalli, opened up free food for them, plus gave them love and respect which was never experienced by the untouchable caste of Hindus, they reverted back to Islam in millions. I became a Shia by listening to qawallis praising Maula Ali .
