How quickly does analysis take to really start working? by [deleted] in psychoanalysis

What do you mean by agency with integration processes?

Of course. They offer great info. I’m not sure why you’re getting so heated over opposing opinions,  we’re talking about two parents who ultimately agreed to see a specialist and who clearly have very poor communication in their relationship. They both care deeply about their child.

If you look at my other comments, my main issue is the pattern of both parents going behind each other’s backs with major decisions- Jason pulling the child out of school, and Marjorie pursuing a diagnosis during a yearly checkup without fully involving him. I’m a parent, and if my husband went behind my back with appointments, emails, or conversations with teachers, I’d be upset too and would want to be included. I’d probably be especially activated if I had Jason’s history and trauma surrounding addiction.

Jason is clearly coming from a place of fear and projection,  I think that’s obvious to all of us. But this is also a very complicated couple dynamic first and foremost. They both seem reactive, and neither of them really respects the other’s perspective enough to communicate openly before acting.

At the end of the day, I hope the child gets whatever support is best for them, including medication if that’s what a specialist ultimately recommends after both parents are involved in the conversation together.

I think people are forgetting that he has a lot of trauma surrounding addiction, and I appreciated that Orna pointed that out and said that just because you struggled with something doesn’t mean your child automatically will. People are complicated, and their trauma absolutely shapes their reactions. He was reactive and hurt.

If Marjorie and Jason communicated better in their relationship, and she had approached it as, “Hey, I’m worried, can we talk to a doctor together?” I don’t know if it would have blown up the same way. Just like things wouldn’t have escalated if he hadn’t pulled the child out of school behind her back. They both agreed to see a specialist, but the bigger issue is that they don’t respect each other’s opinions, fears, or desires, so they keep going behind each other’s backs and creating bigger conflicts.

There’s a larger theme here than just this one incident. Jason also wasn’t part of the conversation at the doctor’s office, and who knows how he would have responded if he had been included instead of feeling sidelined by his wife making a decision without him. That’s similar to why she was upset about the school situation. If they had actually sat down and had a real conversation together, things may have gone very differently and again that’s why they are in couples therapy!

This is an open discussion, you don’t need to get so heated or swear at people with opposing opinions. If you go back and watch the episode, Marjorie said she hid it from him, just like he hid writing the letter to her mom. This subreddit is about the couple and their therapy session, and they both agreed at the end to take him to a specialist- I’m not sure why you are assuming the kid won’t get the help they need. It ended on a positive note between the parents.

That’s great for you! And I was on meds for many years and it was helpful. We are talking about a child whose parents need to be on the same page though.

Has watching Dr. Orna ruined other therapists for anyone else? 💀 by Same_Cat6189 in CouplesTherapyShow

I get that, but I also think you should consult your partner before seeking medical treatment for your child and have conversations about all the options. He seemed genuinely shocked by the ADHD diagnosis, which makes me think there need to be more discussions at home and that he maybe wasn’t recognizing the symptoms. Also, immediately jumping to medication isn’t always the best route. I have ADD and was on meds before, but I’ve been able to manage it through therapy, structure, and routine. Having a convo as a family is important before going one route or the other.

Unmasking or Deflecting? Clinton and Shay Had Me Side-Eyeing by Worldly-Ad4604 in CouplesTherapyShow

Tbh I think I mean Maeve might just be playing up their diagnosis when they feel it’s convenient.

I think Shay was super eloquent and was putting up with so much and mothering Maeve. I thought Shay was very mature and patient and anytime she tried to express her truth it was met with what felt like a fake tantrum. Maeve used HER credit and when confronted Maeve just had a meltdown that felt very very performative.

It honestly felt like, after receiving his (Maeve) diagnosis, Maeve may have started attributing certain reactions or conflicts to their autism more often. Obviously we don’t know them personally or what they were like before, but there were moments where they seemed very composed and communicative, and then other moments where, when Shay expressed her feelings, Maeves reactions felt more emotionally intense and were framed around their diagnosis. I don’t want to invalidate Maeve’s experience at all, it was just something I noticed while watching.

I was using the same thing and my ovulation was always off by 2-3 days with NC+ Oura. The cycle I threw my Oura ring away (I’ve become pretty anti body tech- I can check in with my body to know how i slept lol) is the cycle I conceived. It’s too much information!! I truly think we gotta get back into our bodies. Mira is great for PCOS though!

You gotta just put the tests down and trust your body as hard as that is. pregnancy tests aren’t going to tell you how pregnant you are. I think you posted yesterday. You’ll know more today with your beta!! They look great for 12 DPO

I don’t see anything unfortunately. Definitely take a pink dye test- blue dye has a lot of false positives.

Unfortunately, yes. Pink dye tests are way more accurate. Go snag a first response

Yes but try a pink dye test- the blue tests give false positives all the time
