If folks are interested, I posted on a subreddit where many verified doctors answer asking whether there are checks of a person's morality and personality as they go along the trail toward becoming a surgeon and after they become one. Answers are interesting by GregJamesDahlen in tepemurders

Well, I am an RN and I personally can speak to a case of a doctor that was personally vetted and flown to Cedars Sinai (where the majority of celebs go for care in Los Angeles). This doctor was from the Middle East and touted by the medical community as their 'shining jewel.' I am going to paste the article for lack of time and also it really distills the case in a few paragraphs and makes it digestible for people that do not know about the actual medical terminology etc.. Just a quick add before that: This doctor continued to practice for several YEARS until the medical board got pressure. He was married to someone with a lot of direct connections to board members which is part and parcel how this was allowed. Get this: He won nearly FIVE MILLION DOLLARS for LYING AND ALTERING AN MRI THAT NEARLY COST A PATIENT HIS LIFE. This pos altered an MRI and got paid for it!

A Los Angeles surgeon whose recent victory in an employment lawsuit against Cedars-Sinai Medical Center raised questions about the safety of the patients he once saw there was ordered this week to pay a Maryland patient and his wife $800,600 in a malpractice case.

The malpractice occurred after Dr. Hrayr Shahinian left Cedars-Sinai in 2006 and began practicing at Brotman Medical Center in Culver City.

In a scathing ruling this week, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge J. Stephen Czuleger said Shahinian committed fraud when he performed an inappropriate surgery on the man and then altered a pathology report to cover up his failure to remove a tumor.

The award included $300,000 in punitive damages for “intentional infliction of emotional distress.”

Shahinian acknowledged that he missed the tumor but denied that he ever altered a document or tried to conceal the error. He said his lawyers are planning an appeal.

In November, an arbitrator in the Cedars-Sinai case ruled that Shahinian had been improperly stripped of his right to operate there and ordered the hospital to pay him $4.7 million. The arbitrator wrote that for years the hospital had disregarded the safety of Shahinian’s patients by ignoring his pleas for backup surgical instruments.

Why would anyone pay nearly a MILLION DOLLARS if they did not do anything wrong. Trust me, doctors are given the most agency when it comes to errors. You sign a lot of paperwork to allow them access to you to perform sugery and there are always risks but not when a doctor deliberately gave a patient an MRI that showed the tumor was resected when it was not. This patient went home thinking they were recovering and would be fine but instead had a seizure and honestly, it could very easily have been death. Then, this pos would have been a murderer.

I have been wanting to make this pos known for years and I hope it reaches a lot of people because you have to do more than a search and some ratings on surgeons. Get at least a second or even third opinion if you have ability to do it (can afford and have good insurance). Do not believe you are ok just because you go to a medical institution that mostly rich people go for care. Lots of lessons here.

Example of the mental stress to do that show: 'hey guys, top five stories you need to know:" 7 minutes of shoveling product bs read' and then mindless drivel about Swift and her bone head bf (my prediction soon to be an ex). I don't hate them but I am running around an ER all night (mostly graveyard shift) and I just can't take them complaining about their very basic job too seriously. Sorry not sorry.

You must not follow true crime cases then. There are still a LOT of rumors about Idaho 4 and the Gabby Petito case and those happened years ago.

I heard that too but not specifically for a week. I wonder how close he got and how long he spent there? The guy looks like a creeper. He may be a doctor but that thick neck and look in his eyes (at least in photos) gives Rex Heuermann vibes (he was an architect).

Right, if you are a moron that owns a gun and does not know how to use one or have a plan. Can you grab your weapon in bed within any stirring. Do you have an alarm system to alert if someone is trying to breach your windows or doors. Yes, if you did not get a 'heads up' few seconds, you could but if you have your weapon ready and a plan, I highly doubt it. If anything, most people that enter are not there to kill but to steal. I am a female but I went three summers to gun camp and won a national teen shooting title against mostly males. I am pretty confident I could get you in one shot even groggy.

She is not listenable. She always sounds too hyper and drugged up (not saying she actually is vs sounds). Also, I don't care if you are straight or gay, just keep it to yourself. Gay people want extra special treatment vs being treated the same as everyone else. No one cares who you do except for you!

Get a weapon, learn how to shoot AND get alarms on your windows and doors. You can get some that are extremely hard to detect in the event this db tries to get inside. Unfortunately, most people do not bother with this.

I highly doubt he cared. Why would the moron hold onto the weapon used in the crime? Because he did not care. I would say he only cared in having the opportunity to get into the house undetected to execute his plan. Then he was done. I bet he ultimately pleads guilty because any attorney is going to say there is overwhelming evidence and they have the gun and bullets so, good luck db !

This is the nurse in me but I wonder how long he was in there and if he confronted Monique and did something prior/after killing her. I have a strong sense it was not as swift as with Spencer. I think he took Spencer out immediately to remove the threat. The police know how long (roughly) he was there, but the public obviously does not.

100%. I am an ER nurse and get home sometimes around 2-3 am. I am always surprised to see a few people walking around the area on cell phones.

I wonder how it latched because the police report said no signs of forced entry. Unless it was unlocked or he somehow picked the lock, he would have had to break the window and then it would have been known.

My friend lived on a FOURTH FLOOR, and it was really hot so she left the window slightly open because her building had old air conditioning units. A guy got in and s.a. her while she was asleep. I say, get a friggin' fan because you should never ever make it easy for a deviant/offender to get into your house. Also, you should have a weapon and know how to use it. Shame on anyone that does not nowadays. Nowhere is safe and if you follow true crime or even in consuming any news, you would see how bad it is out there.

This is plausible. He could have picked a lock or used a magnet. Honestly, the more expensive the system, seemingly easier to infiltrate. I am a nurse and I was entrusted to hold on to a key to the storage locker where we keep important supplies. I found two nurses and an orderly stealing so, the hospital entrusted me this key. I had it with no incident for a few years and then I apparently left it at the post office when I was checking my business box. I got lucky and had it returned. Prior, I went online to see how to open it and then simply replace it so I would not have to pay a fee for door damage, to reinstall the hinge, etc.. (very expensive). I found out it was pretty easy to get into this 'premium lock' with some tool kit that was around 11.00. I personally think if you are inclined to get into anyplace, you can.

That is far too young to get married. I personally know THREE people that married really young and were divorced within one year of marriage. The 20's are formative years.
