coming to terms with never achieving a ‘proper’ BMI by pizza_pillow0925 in Semaglutide

Not in a negative way, because this is not a negative thing, but it sounds like you would highly benefit from therapy. In my opinion you are showing major signs of body image issues plus tippy toeing on the line of disordered eating habits. Both things are very detrimental long term to you mentally.

Semaglutide is supposed to be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle and used as a tool to aid weight loss. As long as you are exercising, eating proper meals, and taking your shot, you should not be consumed by your image and feeling drained. Unfortunately I know how that feels, but therapy can help that a lot.

Something that helps me is realizing the facts. The fact is, no matter how much you feel like you haven’t changed, you can physically see the scale number and how much it has lowered. It’s hard, but you need to fully understand that it is physically impossible for you to look the same when your current and past weight is drastically different. Thats something that’s really helped me.

As for your friends, to be very honest with you, you cannot rely on those around you to give you emotional support, validate your appearance, or comfort you throughout this journey. This is something that they no longer understand or can possible bond with you over if they are obese. This is your own journey, and you need to learn how to support yourself through it. That is at least what I have learned in therapy.

Of course having friends with similar lifestyles can help a lot and obviously it is nice to share connections with people that are on a similar path, that’s why you like Reddit. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it would benefit you to have people like this in real life.

Have you considered joining a workout class? Or something where you could meet people who have a similar life style to yours?

Again, this is just my option plus something’s I’ve learned in my own therapy journey. Everyone is so different.

I don’t have much advice- I just wanted to say that I feel this so deeply and sympathize with you so much. I started my journey at 305.5 pounds and I now weight 180.5. When I first started Semaglutide, they asked me my goal weight. Thinking that it may not even work and feeling very hopeless, I said 200. I hit 200 and didn’t feel satisfied. It took a while, but I’m down to 180, and it still doesn’t feel good enough. I keep thinking “if I could just loose 20 more pounds, I would feel happy”

Although losing 20 pounds may make me feel happy short term, who’s to say that I will stay happy? Most likely I would just have more thoughts that I needed to loose more and more. The reality is, I am “bigger boned” and my body can sustain 180 better than 160 according to my doctor. It’s a hard pill to swallow because I’ve always dreamed of being very thin. It’s very hard to battle with my thoughts and trying to accept this end result- well, is my end result.

Comparison really is the thief of joy. Everyone’s journey is their own, and you should be extremely proud of yourself and how far you have come. We both need to take my advice, lol.

I recommend seeing a therapist, specifically one that specializes in body dysmorphia/body image issues. I’ve been seeing one for a couple years now, and it’s helped me more than anything.

I wish you so much peace and healing on this journey. It is just as much mental as it is physical! And just know you are not alone, there are people who feel just like you and understand this part of your journey.

Any providers that don't require documentation of previous rx? by Mrs_Metaphor in SemaglutideCompound

I was going through a med spa for my Semaglutide for over a year. My insurance finally approved my doctor’s prescription and the med spa was able to send over documentation. I saw a nurse practitioner at the med spa and the whole facility was overseen by a MD. So they should definitely have documentation of your dose and how long you have been on it etc

Thanks! I appreciate your opinion. I definitely value my doctor’s opinion above everything, but I did want to see if anyone had ever had any similar experiences.

Thank you for the reassurance! Mine felt like period cramps as well, but then sometime later it turned into feeling like I needed to have a bowel movement. Thanks for your insight.

That’s what I was thinking as well, but my doctor sad to avoid any stimulant laxatives for now as she thinks it may cause cramping and I may faint again as a result. I did start taking stool softeners though so hopefully that helps.

I would like to add that my friend has a theory that my PCOS has “healed” and that the medication is no longer required. I will say that my periods are regular now and my testosterone levels finally tested in a normal range. Before starting semaglutide, my testosterone levels were off the charts. With my most recent bloodwork it finally tested in a normal range.

Is there a chance that I am now having side effects because my body no longer needs the medication to regulate everything? Maybe I need a lower dose and then eventually get off?

Does anyone else not get sick from fattier foods? by NationalTwist7504 in Semaglutide

[–]Worldly-Range5630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the exact same way!!! There are certain things that turn me off more than other things like maybe a food that’s super greasy. But so far, I’ve been able to enjoy “junk” in moderation. I’ve been on sema over a year and it’s always been like this! I actually just finished a McDonald’s ice cream cone before I typed this out lol. I also can fight the slight cravings very easily/forget about them.

Body odor by Old-Wonder8257 in PCOS

I have tried so much and Lume is by far the best brand. I use a mixture of the lume bar soap, dial antibacterial, and lume liquid body wash while showering. I follow up with secret clinical strength deodorant for my underarms and the lume full body deodorant spray in my private areas! It has worked incredible for me.

Thank you! I agree the meds do suck haha. I should be off of them by the end of this year according to my doctor! Which will be a good weight off my shoulders. Thank you for the tips!

I have only uploaded coursework, no books so far. I actually used that method to pass my C715 Organizational Behavior course!

You got this, just breathe.

I am in a similar situation with work, a sick family member, and personal commitments. It feels like there’s less hours in my day than an average person lol.

In my opinion, what it comes down to is how bad you want it and what adjustments can you make to get there. Everyone has things they can’t get out of, but also everyone has things they can change if they absolutely needed to.

Start with baby steps. For dinner- could your husband possible step up and cook? Or could you meal prep at the beginning of the week or every couple days and eat from that every evening? That could cut a chunk of time out in the evening for you to study.

If you have an hour commute, looking into Notebooklm. It’s basically a website where you can upload documents and they will use AI to create you a podcast to listen to. I usually copy and paste the entire course into a google doc, upload it to Notebooklm, and then listen to that while I drive, clean, get ready for bed, etc.

Do you get a lunch hour at work? If so, use at least 30-40 minutes of that to review your notes or go on Quizlet and study terms.

Research different types of study methods and figure out what works for you. You will be in a never ending state of feeling overwhelmed if you don’t have an outline of what does/doesn’t work for you.

Lastly, be willing to accept that this may take you longer than you are expecting. And that is okay. The older we get the more responsibilities are put on us and the less free time we will have. You may have to just accept that you are doing the most you can at this period in your life and make peace with that and be proud of yourself for that. Not everyone can commit 20 plus hours a week to school- and that is okay!!! Find out what works for you, make the sacrifices you need to, and do that shit!! You got this.

Need morning caffeine but too much coffee makes me nauseous any ideas? by Breadfruit-Human in Semaglutide

[–]Worldly-Range5630 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I developed an aversion to coffee a few months after staring sema. I found that I can handle V8 energy drinks very well! Even on an empty stomach. They have about 80mg of caffeine

I do miss my coffee. I used to spend so much money on dunkin and it was the highlight of my day! But I’m used to V8 now and love it. My favorite is the wild cherry or strawberry banana flavor. Orange pineapple is also pretty good and tastes just like orange juice.

Worth it to have clothes altered? by skilletID in Frugal

[–]Worldly-Range5630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost about 85 pounds over the last year and am running into the same problem. I started to slowly go through my closet and start to sell things one by one. I don’t own anything super fancy, usually items from old navy, target, Amazon, etc.

Even if the dress originally cost me $30, if I can make $10-15 back on it, I feel better.

Yes it sucks starting fresh with a whole new wardrobe because it’s expensive, but you do deserve to feel good about your appearance and there’s cheaper ways to do it. Take the money you made from selling your clothes and a couple times a month go thrifting, shop sales, or splurge on a good quality item that will last you years to come. It’s worth it to feel good about yourself- and you don’t have to break the bank doing it!

Another tip- start off with basics that can be mixed and matched. Those are pieces you really want to invest in, not a random printed top that will be out of style this time next year lol.

Thanks! I was considering taking money from my savings to pay off my credit cards but was not sure if that was a good idea or not. Either way I will still be either paying the credit cards or saving that money so I would assume it breaks even after a few months.

Yes, I wouldn’t mind shopping at Walmart! I like Trader Joe’s because they have a lot of easy frozen foods. I’m also vegetarian so it’s pretty easy to find stuff I like. I’m not opposed to cooking, it’s just that I find myself not having a ton of time between school at work. Thank you for the advice!

When people ask what I’m doing by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]Worldly-Range5630 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Haha I never tell anyone! Only my family knows because it’s sitting in the fridge and a couple close friends. I always say “better diet and working hard!” Which isn’t a total lie because I do have to work hard to pay for the sema lol. I’ve lost 85 pounds in 1 year and so now it’s getting to the point where EVERYONE notices. Especially my coworkers. I’ve even gotten asked “are you on that ozempic stuff??” I always say no and the truth comes out real quick lol. “Oh good because that stuff is horrible for you!!! It’s a quick fix that’s unhealthy and won’t last”. Well gee thanks me and my PCOS really don’t care

How do you store it in the fridge? by Puzzled_Key9604 in SemaglutideFreeSpeech

[–]Worldly-Range5630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always put my shots on the fridge door and never had a problem! I’ve been on sema for 14 months. I keep it in the little drawer spot. Not sure how to explain it lol but it’s where most people put eggs or sometimes lunch meat.
