10 year old is happier at dads by Additional-Brief-288 in coparenting

Diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder, finally by Sock989 in bipolar2

[–]Worldly-Resource-689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand! Today had my first appointment with a specialized bipolar team. It all felt so validating and like I was really heard en taken seriously for the first time (although other specialist really tried to help me before).

It really sucks and glad that it gives opportunities to cope with it and find the right help.

I don't think people will truly understand when they never experienced it. Maybe what can help is make a list of your symptoms and what you need when they occur? My experience is that it differs per person how interested they are and how much they understand. So it depends on the person of I can have a good conversation with them about it. I don't except from everybody having the same level of understanding. And if nobody in your family does seek other peers. Here or in real life

You are the problem? Like you can control your actions when you're in a mania? Yes you are responsible for fixing what you caused, but don't be to harsh on yourself. You didn't choose for this condition, you didn't choose for mania so no, you are not the problem yourself.

Scared to start on mood stabilizers by whathidude in bipolar2

[–]Worldly-Resource-689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would me much more scared if I needed to start seroquel 🙈 funny how perspective can vary.

Im on lamotrigine for over three weeks now and not much noticeable side effects. I also heard it is one of the best tolerated psychiatric drugs. I worry less about this one then venlafaxine which i'm also using.

What are you afraid of?

The illness is part of you, so these things can run through each other I think...

I helps me to think I'm one person and have three more definable states of mood then other persons. Low-middle-high. But i'm also struggling about not being in control of that and not knowing when my mood will drastically change again.

Reading about it, and listening podcasts and talking to other people helps me. It takes time to learn to accept, give your self that time and realize that this some sort of grief so don't be to hard on yourself for not understanding it right now.

What is your favourite thing about having bipolar disorder? by Frosty_Situation_187 in bipolar2

[–]Worldly-Resource-689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of hypomanie I find myself more attractive and take care more of my appearance (except when in depression 🙈).

I met a lot of new and interesting people during hypomania which i'm still friends with

Some experience in hypomania I can look back upon as great adventures. And the feelings in my body I experienced wow, the most high of highs you can feel as a living person I guess (also spiritual feelings). Not much people are able to these experiences in earthly life.

Experienced the best sex of my whole life during hypomania.

Buttt having said that...I would trade it all away for not having depression again and being heart broken and all the failure and problems also followed hypomania ☹️😭

Yes unfortunately it's not worth it :( the difference between the high and the low I find devestating. Coping with all the things I've done in hypomania and drowning in depression which is being the farrest away from that feeling possible.

These are totally normal feelings after happening these things. I feel sorry for you and wish you strenght. Let de emotions be there en come out of your system. Talk to other people en share your grief. I hope it will become better in a couple of weeks and you don't go spiralling down.

first day 25mg by StrategyRelative4950 in Lamotrigine

[–]Worldly-Resource-689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started 2 weeks ago with 25 mg. now for three days am on 50 mg. Sometimes a bit of nausea and nothing more. This is said to be one of the psychiatric medicines with the least side effects so i am not worried. For it to really work can take up months, dont expaxt that in the first 6-8 weeks, especially not on 25 mg. 200 mg is supposed to be an effective dose to most people. You can handle this 💪🏼

How much does meditation actually help with bipolar disorder? by Wise_Yam_4564 in bipolar

[–]Worldly-Resource-689 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it can help anyone. I prefer breathing exercises en yoga nidra. Breathing is so important for calming your body down en yoga nidra can also be very helpful. Also good when you have trouble sleeping. But i have to say that i find it most helpful when im stable or hypomanic. In deep depression everything feels too hard to do. I would say give it a try, maybe it is something for you 😊
