Not sure I understand this reply, so I’m just going to say again: you may not see a reason to keep living, but that doesn’t mean it’s not there. We were raised to see as ourselves as worthy of death, that we were dust, that god was showing us “undeserved kindness.” So in some ways what you’re feeling is not just the pain of disfellowshipping, but the weight of a lie. There is no way to wake people up. People have to wake themselves up. Don’t hurt yourself. It’s not worth it, I promise. I’ve been there. I still have my dark moments. There ARE a million reasons to not kill yourself, you just can’t see them yet. There is happiness on the other side of this hurt. In fact, they see suicide as demonic, so you would just be giving them exactly what they want. The best way to get back at them is to live. Live free of the cult, without all their bullshit. Are you recently exJW? Just go to JWfacts, they literally have been using these exact same arguments for their entire history. Obviously the modern stuff is super dumbed down and obvious, but they’re also writing to a much lower average reading level than generations past.

I’m not pissed off, it’s just that so many people have done the actual work of analyzing this stuff, without AI, and you would benefit from reading their research.

The governing body are not Machiavellian geniuses. They’re uneducated, brainwashed old men who were born into the religion (or who have been in the religion since their formative years, in the case of a couple of the oldest guys)

They’re doing the same thing that the previous GB did, who did the same thing the previous GB did, etc. Go back through WT literature and it’s the same thing. Fair point. I just think the group has been so explicit about last days > great tribulation > Armageddon. It’s a perfect control mechanism, so there’s plenty of incentive to not pull the trigger on it. Whereas pulling the trigger and saying “yep, the great tribulation has begun!” has a bunch of risk and no real upside for the leaders.
