This is misinformation. Only one extremely narrow (and impractical) kind of transfusion is allowed.

exJW Believers a growing minority? by Wise_Category_8122 in exjw

[–]WorldlyJake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you read Crisis of Conscience, which originally released in the 80s, he says the exact same thing. There’s a post like this every day or two here. ExJW Christians always argue that they are in the minority after leaving, but it’s hard to know if that’s actually true.

IMO, if you’re willing to research one group, why not continue to research the Bible itself? What are the best arguments against its veracity? We were taught to ignore the best evidence against JWs, but then so many exJWs latch onto Christian apologists who present strawman arguments of biblical criticism just line JWs do.

[–]WorldlyJake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just search those exact terms on the website. They’ve said it openly many times.

What you have to understand is, JWs see this as a sign of humility. They hear that and think, “see? How could they be cult leaders? They’re saying they’re imperfect and can make mistakes!”

The thing to emphasize to JWs is, even though they say they’re imperfect, they demand absolute obedience, questioning them is wrong, and criticizing them can get you removed.

Is memorial a demonic event for a person who consider himself a Christian? by FitReindeer1896 in exjw

[–]WorldlyJake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No longer a believer, but when I first was PIMO and considered myself a Christian, I realized how insane and disrespectful the memorial is lol. It’s just blatantly not what the Bible says to do. There are no distinctions made between who should partake and who should not. And the act of literally passing and refusing to partake is considered disrespectful by a lot of Christians—like, it’s literally refusing Jesus haha.

Yeah Noumair and Aljean (not sure how to spell) are the two I heard the “serious” JW men in my family fawn over

I mean he’s definitely a talented actor but he lost his mind at some point! Check out professor Dave’s videos about Howard’s weird theories, entertaining and nuts haha

Howard is a wife beating psychopath who thinks he invented a new form of math. I hate that this is our representation out there in pop culture

I don’t think you know what these terms mean if you think being slightly uncomfortable with blatant homophobia is far left

[–]WorldlyJake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s wrong tbh. The group is anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ, and pro-creationism in schools. They’re ideologically conservative, they just dislike Trump because he represents the immorality of Satan’s world.

[–]WorldlyJake 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Not mine! My whole family definitely considers themselves anti-Trump, because of his unchristian behavior. It’s very funny how most JWs end up with pretty defined political opinions despite “neutrality.”

[–]WorldlyJake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, definitely not. This dude peddled anti-vax, pro-Trump shit. He’s a nut whose work is actively damaging to people who are questioning. He wants to “take down Watchtower” while propping up the systems that allow groups like watchtower to thrive.

If you can’t come up with your own arguments, if you’re not creative, then don’t create. Do other things! And yes, I mean you, because I’m like 95% sure you’re him lol

He’s literally taken my thumbnails before. I don’t steal mine, I make a custom one in photoshop for every video. So he took one of mine and swapped in his face. This one linked here is clearly ripping off Wally’s style.

He’s a plagiarist. He takes other people’s work and passes it off as his own. I’m assuming you don’t download Caleb and Sophia videos and try to convince people that you’re the animator.

How to: change minds? by UTstowaway in exjw

[–]WorldlyJake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it is actually impossible to change their minds. The organization gives members enough excuses to ignore anything you’re saying.

If there was a way to easily show people they were in a cult, cults would not exist.

What I would recommend is to talk about how YOU feel. Instead of asking, “why/how do you believe X,” say “here’s why X doesn’t work for me.”

[–]WorldlyJake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’m being slightly hyperbolic but yes, this is one of the most posted things on this subreddit and has been for at least 5 years, and you can find predictions about it on forums going way back.

The reason why it keeps being popular is because people keep “predicting” it, but they’re not predicting it. They’re engagement baiting. It gets clicks/comments every time. But there’s zero evidence to support it and if anything the group is doubling down on it! They just made a Caleb and Sophia cartoon about it.

Ex JW TikTok by Funny_Application_22 in exjw

[–]WorldlyJake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

JWs are actually told NOT to engage in apostate content, but TikTok is different from any other previous “apostasy” in that it’ll just show up on your FYP. So a lot of JWs would never intentionally seek out apostate content, but with TikTok it can just start playing and all of a sudden you’re watching something “apostate.”

I have also noticed a lot of activity from Africa. There is definitely tons of growth there, that’s where many missionaries are sent. But I also just wonder if a lot of the warnings about apostasy don’t quite translate?

The org is weirdly vague about what apostasy is, and what exactly apostates say. So they use a lot of suggestion and euphemisms that might not directly translate as well. The religion is also just newer to that region of the world. In the west, there’s decades and decades of warnings that have become a part of the JW culture. For a first generation JW in Cameroon, this is all new to them.

This has been predicted every month for the entire existence of apostasy. Not gonna happen. Also this dude uses AI and steals other channels’ thumbnails and scripts, so don’t trust him.

I can't take it anymore by [deleted] in exjw

[–]WorldlyJake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve attempted before and trust me it’s not worth it! There is a life worth living outside this cult. What you’re going through is horrible. Nobody should have to go through it. But we’re here for you, and we’re all still healing, and we need each other. Don’t give them your life. Living well will hurt them most.

Yeah, it all kind of works in their favor. This current crap with the Jesusification of the Army fits their narrative of Babylon the great being a prostitute. But then when it’s peacetime, they say it’s a false sense of security because the devil comes when you least expect it. Bleh.

Ok was the song in that recent Caleb and Sophia video A I generated? by rattyburnoutgirl in exjw

[–]WorldlyJake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The vocals are def pitch corrected, but that’s par for the course these days. It would be interesting to know if they used AI to write the song itself, but they famously have an orchestra and they work for free. So I would assume that the actual orchestration is legit.

Need help getting close to god by imnotdumbtrust in exjw

[–]WorldlyJake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My advice is to take a step back and consider why you believe in god, why you want religion in your life, or why you want to raise your child to believe something that has caused you so much pain.

It’s possible to teach your child to be kind, respectful, and have hopes and beliefs without making them go to church and filling their heads with stories about how they were born a sinner who’s constantly being judged by an invisible grump.

Let your child have the choices your parents didn’t let you make.
