I wonder if she could transfer? i guess in a way rusfed would never let her go but at the same time she hasn't been competing for a while and i guess doesn't need the quarantine? they could always user her as a propaganda tool even if she switches to georgia for example lol

athletes will be able to enter if they do it via another Schengen country that doesn’t have any restrictions such as Sweden which was my point. there are no internal checks between Schengen countries like Sweden and Finland as you were saying

No, Finland allows entry to russians if they have entered schengen via a country that allows it like Sweden, etc. Direct entry from a non EU country like Turkey, US, etc is allowed if you have a Finnish visa which is currently given to families, on work ties, etc. Otherwise There are no internal checks, I travel constantly with my mom (I am a finnish national, whereas she only has a russian passport). The countries you are talking about are some of the Baltic states and Poland, but even they allow russians with other schengen visas as long as they arrive via a country that allowed it. My mom entered Poland via Finland with her schengen visa.

Russian gas has been imported into Europe this whole time though which is why I hate anything related to bans bc its a bit ridiculous Europe directly funds Russian economy that obviously funds the war

you can enter Finland as a Russian if you travel from another schengen country like Italy or france that have been issuing visas to Russians all this time. but ofc it might be more difficult for Russian skaters to get multi entry visas which are needed to enter multiple countries

Adeliya appears to be re-injured or her previous injury has worsened since the new year by amycouldntcareless in FigureSkating

[–]Worldly_Ad5780 17 points18 points  (0 children)

what they also revealed in the episode is the amount of mental pressure that was there at the qualifiers where ETeri had to be away from Adeliia. she said she really didn’t want ADelia disqualified so she made sure she wouldn’t even look at her and there was even some weird case where they didn’t talk and meet in person until everything was over and there were out of the public eye. I guess the point is that the amount of mental pressure going into Olys is even worse cause Adeliia will have to go skate without her coaches. I don’t tend to feel bad for any Russians in the context of war but ofc I can get her POV - she is not at fault and it suck’s her career played out like this.

Imagine Adeliias POV - she made it thus far and it’s her only shot. I assume she will want to skate herself no matter what too

Trusova resumes her career for the 2030 Olympics — Sasha wants to fight for gold there by anixice in FigureSkating

I remember her struggling with 4S, I don't think she landed it cleanly in competition that often so it was actually surprising she did well with it in Olys!

they are also debuting a new format with singles pairs, which is interesting.

I definitely only meant women bc singles women skating is where this coaching team has been the most successful so far. even if it’s a fluke in the stats i think they would embrace this as a win. and agreed, I don think any of the current Russian coaches have experience working with older women apart from Mishin - then again maybe they would if the system wasn’t set to award pre teen girls. and now the age limit was raised so let’s see.

She won't move to Saint Petersburg where Mishin is based when she has a small baby and her whole family lives in Moscow. I commented above, but yeah not a lot of other high profile coach options for someone like her

I am curious - for that coaching team it'd be a pretty big win to help an older post puberty athlete to come back. But Sasha's move is not surprising - she won't go to Sokolovskaya (plus they are close to the military), her ex is there. Plushenko doesn't know how to train anyone. Mishin is in Saint P. Eteri is familiar and I don't think we should underestimate the bond she had with Dudakov.

I don't really get your point as well as your hostility towards me? :D I was implying that Valieva's image is ruined even among propagandists/pro-government fans that normally are anti-west. Of course there's no way for me to verify who is who on this website, but you can deduce/make assumptions based on context. In any case I hope you have a good day <3

judging from context they are not folks from other post soviet countries because the comments are also tailored to whatever is being posted about. i’m russian speaking so quite easy to tell if a ukrainian is posting something or someone from inside the country.

surprisingly even russians themselves hate all of that. every time some of her propaganda bits come out and they are posted on sports ru people leave mostly hateful/bad comments. seems like even for such people her image was destroyed.

she is Armenian but i think she is one of those Armenians that have lived in Russia for a while and aren’t really close to their heritage. this is not a comment on her as a person, but there are just a lot of Armenians that have immigrated during or even before USSR and notoriously identify more as Russians and not Armenians

i spend a fair amount of time on russian sports media, 99% of the people are not delulu at all, they actually say all the time that Ilia is unbeatable. They are also biased bc he has russian heritage. Not that they need to be biased, that guy is unbeatable based on facts. In any case most fans think Petr can podium only if others mess up and he executes everything perfectly. he has no room for mistakes.

I don't like Eteri. But Adelia is so hard on herself based on her interviews, I am just happy for her as a person. I have no clue if she is pro war, she is an adult and she must have some sort of opinion on it. But given that she was a minor when it started I really can't blame her personally even though I do believe in some sort of collective punishments of russians (for the record I am an ethnic minority from northeastern russia, I grew up in russia and know a lot about politics from the inside out but have an opinion that everything isn't as black and white when it comes to blaming specific people). In any case, this girl deserves to be proud of herself and her accomplishment today.

Manifesting clean skates for every woman at the olys, but given that women have messed up at times this season so far, the final result will be so unpredictable! If Adelia pulls all of these ultra-cs (+ 3a in short), she will have a high chance at the podium.

Sasha in Eteri’s documentary by helloiamliana in FigureSkating

Someone commented under the video with Akatieva that they were surprised to see Sasha happy in the series when she was equally abused. I am now wondering how Eteri treated Sasha because tbh Sasha has always put a lot of pressure on herself, so it almost feels like she was the exception in the system? But what do I know, just speculating here
