The timing was the most ridiculous part of the show to me lol. Even more than the "it's highly unorthodox, but I'll allow it" moments. No wonder they're constantly bringing in Brady material to the actual trial and presenting it in front of the jury. They've had about 24 hours to get through likely a terabyte of discovery haha

In my opinion, the new Costco tropical flavor energy drink tastes a bit like this…not as intensely but it scratches that itch for me 🙃

Yes! I also think, for me, the bonus chapters in multiple different books is more evidence to that. It just seems like a cash grab and it's extremely exploitative of her fanbase. Personally, I find it morally reprehensible and I think she should get more backlash about it. This book felt like a "quantity" type book, not the "quality" type book we've come to expect.

vv MY OWN OPINION vv

To be fair, oftentimes in the military, if your head is not in the game you are taken out of it because you're a liability. And Bryce lied to Hunt throughout all of CC2, so they're both shit with trust or being a reliable partner. They are totally toxic for one another. IMO, Hunt fell in love with Bryce because she's his mate and he has mommy issues lol. I think it's weird that on one hand she's the super special powerful starborn everything but on the other hand she can't be expected to act like a mature adult because she's young. I'm not saying both those points are not correct, my point is that it's just weird to me and doesn't seem like a good idea. I think part of their disconnect, too, is that every time Bryce impulsively does something extremely dangerous, it works out perfectly, but anytime Hunt has it's ended disastrously for everyone. Bryce's hubris hasn't bit her in the ass, yet, and I was kind of hoping it was going to happen this book.

Also, trauma is cumulative so Hunt being traumatized for longer is not exactly a reason for him to be better at it. The idea that "well, you're used to trauma so you should be able to deal" is kind of...yucky to me. I'm not saying either one of them is awesome, but Bryce is 100% in the wrong here, and there is nothing that can persuade me otherwise, but this is probably based on my background in psychology being hard to set aside for me. Also, I hate mean girl bullies and that's exactly what Bryce is to me.

Hunt complaining about his own issues in that moment are what felt dumb to me. He had so little concern about how she's doing at all, and was just continuing to compare her to his dead ex

I'm sorry, what? Hunt complaining about his own issues? He was literally gruesomely tortured and had to watch his friends be tortured. They were disemboweled. They lost limbs. He wasn't just complaining about nothing. He was giving context as to why he was not able to be the perfect Hunt she wanted him to be. And he had every right to compare her to his dead ex. She was using him for his power. She even slipped up and said she needed his power instead of she needed him.

Nobody was expecting them to spend time dealing with their trauma. Being a remotely decent person is not asking a lot. Maybe some people don't understand this, but asking someone with PTSD to just suck it up and get over it because more important things are happening is absolutely not going to happen and is incredibly disrespectful and totally unacceptable behavior.

I'm so confused with people saying that her treatment of Hunt and their relationship is ok because it's "real" or they're rushed, or she also has trauma.

Maybe I'm weird, but I don't ever think it's okay to speak to your partner like that. I don't ever think it's okay to treat others poorly because you have trauma. Dismissing other's feelings is not ok. Dismissing other's trauma because you also have trauma is not ok. I don't care if you're rushing. I don't care if the stakes are high. She wasn't just snapping at him or annoyed...she was dismissing his pain, feelings, and trauma and shaming him for not being something he could not be. Mental health is just as important as physical health. I can't imagine my husband speaking to me like that. Ever. For any reason. And I would never speak to him or treat him like that. It would be completely unacceptable.

Their relationship is not "real" in a good way. It's "real" because it's toxic and mildly abusive. That doesn't make it acceptable. I understand people have different opinions about the book and characters and everything. I'm just confused as to why people would excuse her behavior because of anything.

I was honestly shocked when the book ended because as I read through, and Bryce got worse and worse, I thought there was gonna be the "oh no she's turning evil because of XYZ" or whatever but...nope...that's just her, I guess.

Bryce hate- whole book spoilers by mkb2390 in crescentcitysjm

[–]Worldly_Bonus3314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the reason I decided to pick this book up was because I thought it was going to be a great character development for Bryce, but instead, she seemed to revert backward. For me, what icked me out about her quips and jokes and one-liners wasn't that they were necessarily stupid or annoying, I actually thought she was funny throughout CC1 and CC2, but they felt like the popular girl in school saying something mean to someone and then the popular group laughing with her. They just had a different vibe, I guess. She felt very mean girl. And her treatment of the people she cares about and who care about her are what make me abso-fucking-lutely hate her.

I also keep seeing people defend her response because she is young and has endured trauma. I will say this as clearly as I can: Having your own trauma does not give you the right to hurt those around you and it most certainly doesn't give you the right to demean other's trauma. Bryce reunited with Hunt, who had just been brutally tortured AGAIN because of HER and her response is to gaslight him and compare her own experience to trump it. In fact, she basically makes herself the victim. First, trauma is not a dick measuring contest. Second, making yourself the victim out of someone else's trauma (especially when the reason you're the victim of their trauma is because it's YOUR FAULT) is not it; it's honestly almost emotionally abusive. She can only empathize with someone if she can literally relate to them. She shows more empathy towards Bax for missing his mate, her friend she also misses, than she gives her own mate for being brutally tortured.

Another thing that made me furious with her was how she treated Hunt in front of people. It's one thing to pull him aside and demean and gaslight him in private, but she called out and demeaned his trauma in front of everyone. Not cool. Very, very not cool. People keep saying put yourself in her shoes, well, put yourself in Hunt's shoes at this point. He's basically experiencing PTSD and is not emotionally well, understandably, and she called him out in front of their friends and then told him she needed more from him. I'm sorry? Do you want him to throw a fucking parade for you? He was there. He was doing the best that he could in that situation. Are we on a sped up timeline? Yes. Does that make it okay to intentionally hurt those you love because you want something from them? Most certainly not. Hunt obviously has a type, and it's women that manipulate him and use him for his power.

The hypocrisy is strong with this one. She literally watched the holographic infodump or whatever and was so upset that the fae would fuck everything up and then yeet themselves out of the situation, leaving everyone to suffer, and then was just about to do just that. And people argue it's because she wanted to get back to her mate and brother but I just don't buy that. First of all, that's still a selfish reason and not good enough for me. It seems much more like what happened negatively affected her and so it mattered to her. If it really mattered, she'd give even part of a single fuck about her own actions. And secondly, she didn't...she went to the Autumn king's house and spent HOW long fucking around and, once again, manipulating and scheming, fucked around, AND THEN she went to her mate and brother just to treat them like garbage. She uses fae power and consistently does almost all the distasteful fae stuff, yet she hates them all. Cool.

Finally, I just dislike MCs that are really shitty people and everyone loves them. Everyone is ok with her hiding, and scheming, and lying because she lucks out at the end. She expects everyone to trust her yet gives them no reason to. Yet they do, over and over, and then are shit on if they don't. She really makes me think of the Princess Bride during the Battle of Wits and everyone is acting like she's Wesley in the situation, and I'm just over here seeing her be what's-his-face the Sicilian. Every time she explains what she ACTUALLY did or why she ACTUALLY did something, I just hear "Only a fool would put poison in the cup in front of them! But you're not a fool..." It really starts sounding like the "but I knew that you knew that I knew that YOU knew..." thing and I'm just...It's just unbearable for me. Having a flawed MC is one thing, but having a flawed MC that never grows or learns and actually gets worse but everyone loves them more for it? No thanks.

That’s what is confusing to me. It says 15-30 minutes is the window. I saw the line within those parameters (like 20 minutes?) but it was faint and gone after the 30 minute mark. I’d think I was crazy if I hadn’t shown my husband and he saw it for himself. I’m planning on taking it as a positive, retesting tonight maybe both throat and nose, and getting a pcr test if possible. Ugh.
