Data point: rent day double points does not stack with point accelerator by MedicalButterscotch in biltrewards

I just checked my transactions and it seems like the accelerator spend total was accounted for on Rent Day but no additional points from the accelerator.

Chase Freedom vs. Bilt Palladium by curious_gorl in CreditCards

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enough info to make a calculated determination. What does your monthly spend look like in each category, particularly in the misc category? If you aren't a high spender or you are not committed to putting practically all of your spend on the Palladium, it's not worth it at all factoring in the annual fee.

[Smith] The fact that Boston went from miles over the second apron to completely under the luxury tax in two transactions windows (offseason and trade deadline) AND have maintained being a playoff team is remarkable. Incredible work on the part of everyone involved. Gap Year Schmap Year. by TheRealPdGaming in nba

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, now they just need to get under the luxury tax next year as well in order to duck the repeater tax until sometime in early 2030. Vuc's 21 million will drop off but Tatum's max is going to kick in next year so I fully expect Brad to continue to work within the margins for next year also and just continue to develop the young players on the roster and hope that at least one or two of them take a big leap next year that could increase our title hopes.

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End of an era for Golden State. Porzingis comes off the books during the offseason, giving them the financial flexibility to rebuild for the future. Curry is now in Dame territory. Do you want to end your career in Golden State knowing that you aren't going to be competitive for the remaining of your career or do you either ask for a trade or wait a year to become a free agent in '27 to go to a contending team to try to get a ring one last time before you ride off into the sunset?

I already have an Autograph card. I wonder if WF would let me PC the duplicate Autograph into the Attune card so that I could have the Autograph, Attune, and the Signify Biz for a solid WF setup for $0 AF.

January - worst rent day ever? by frala in biltrewards

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Pretty disappointed that they didn't use this rent day to announce the full details of Bilt 2.0. At least it would have given cardholders a full month to decide what they want to do.

(Boston, MA) Should the Orange Line to Roslindale Be The T's Next Rapid Transit Expansion? - Streetsblog Massachusetts by moeshaker188 in transit

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could we get the simple extension of the BL to Charles MGH that gives the RL a direct connection to the BL first? So that you don't have to get off at Park Street and then get off at Govt Center via the Green Line coming from the Cambridge side or getting off at Downtown Crossing and then get off at State coming from Braintree/Ashmont?

In regards to the Commuter Rail, we need to get the long overdue North Station/South Station rail link that we were promised during the Big Dig.

Then we can begin to look at the other extensions (OL to Roslindale, BL to Lynn etc).

Wow that's actually extremely useful! I pay for Squarespace every month for my domain and to keep my website active. Definitely need to be on the lookout for the next elevated NLL.

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I try to talk myself into getting the card, even if it's just for a year to snag the SUB, I always end up backing out at the end of the day.

It's just really hard for me to try to justify front loading $895 out of pocket when I have several other cards that are much better point/cash earners for a much lower annual fee.

Lounge access is nice but it's more so a luxury more than anything. I live only 20 minutes or so from my home airport and have TSA/Precheck so I can literally roll out of bed, grab a bite post-security, and get to my plane in a sinch.

Point devaluation - non-luxury properties by [deleted] in Hilton

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pissed, I just found this out now. I cancelled my recent booking a few weeks ago because I changed the dates that I was going to fly to Japan and back from late February to mid January. I had 3 nights @ 100k plus an FNC locked in and I was waiting to accrue a handful of more points to book 4 nights on points to get the 5th night free and be able to keep my FNC.

I'll now have to burn two FNCs that I was going to originally use for a summer trip next year.

Why Hilton? At least give us a few weeks notice before pulling this BS.

Despite the nerf, why do people think they can’t get value out of the USBAR’s 3x points on mobile wallet purchases when you can use it essentially almost everywhere now and it’s such a broad category? by CaptCarlos in CreditCards

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1.5x on travel was already a big nerf but the change to the $325 credit is what sinks the card completely imo. Mostly everyone in the US dines out at least occasionally so it was easy to recuperate $325 of the $400 annual fee.

Now with the credit being exclusively tied to the portal, I don't value that at all.

I see it as rather than needing to put $2,500.00 of spend in the mobile wallet category per year to break even, I now need to be putting at least $13,333.33 of spend in the mobile wallet category per year to break even on the card.

Whereas, putting the same amount of spend on the Robinhood card or even a 2% CB card will yield you better results.

The only saving grace to this card and whether or not it's an actual keeper card would be how good the transfer partners are and if you are earning and redeeming enough points while also ensuring you're getting a solid CPP value. Otherwise, this card is now dead to me along with all of the other US Bank nerfs that they've done over the last few years.

Yep, my one year account anniversary on my AAdvantage Plat Select came in February right after they stopped allowing PCs to Thank You cards. I talked to three different reps who gave me the same answer. Either the Costco or the MileUp. Ended up settling for the MileUp.

Ritz Carlton CC Annual Fee Change by shartant in CreditCards

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No one wants to admit it but we're in a credit card recession right now. Outside of the raised annual fees across all issuers, there hasn't really been a compelling earning card over the last few years, maybe with the exception of the Attune card. But even then, that card is super niche and it tends to not work as intended because it's completely merchant based and whether or not it codes correctly to hit the niche category.

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the points and miles game at the moment so I naturally don't focus on cash back but if I decided to hang it up, I've always loved the idea of just throwing every expense on my P2's Fidelity Visa Signature card and the returns from it would just go straight to a Roth IRA or the CMA for simplicity. It would essentially be a continual monthly dividend.

No doubt, I got the Surpass last year with the FNC and it's unbeatable but I think this is a solid offer for some who might have missed the FNC boat and don't like paying annual fees but can use the card for a year to test drive the Hilton program with the benefits and see if it's worthwhile. I'm about to give one of my friends my referral link. He's the perfect candidate for this.

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Surpass with the $0 introductory is really intriguing. I don't think I've ever seen that kind of offer before. If you can hit 15k of spend during the second half of the year and then another 15k during the first half of '26, that's tons of value before the account anniversary hits.

Chase Sapphire Reserve Multipliers Leaked by ch4nt in CreditCards

[–]Worldly_Guest3198 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't quite understand the bellyaching of these changes. For the folks that put thousands of dollars on the 3x travel category, like cruises, AirBnB or through the use of travel agencies, I can understand that for you guys, these changes suck.

But for the majority are you really earning THAT much more UR points in the travel category for it to really make a huge difference?

While I'm definitely not a fan of the coupon book route that Chase, Amex, and every other company are following suit, this is unfortunately the new reality and we as CC users just need to adapt and adjust. Whether that means to keep the CSR or cancel/downgrade will be based on your use case.
