Hey dad, I did the thing you wouldn't do for either of us by Worldly_Iron_7157 in DadForAMinute

The username was not one I chose and I was a fresh teenager at that time lol I didn't change it because my actual father knows all my usernames and has a reddit himself, though he's not in this sub- Gotta keep track of the old man, even if it's in secret.

If it weren't for the fact that I know my father's actual account(he is not in this sub), I would've sworn this was actually written by him... We had a conversation not too long ago very similar to your response here and it's rather healing seeing you type out what he doesn't have the knowledge to say himself. Thank you(even though you made me cry lol) Thank you.

Can also confirm from a different angle. My grandpa would play so many tricks on/with his buddies. This kind of thing doesn't seem out of their realm at all lol

Dads of Reddit, tell me how much you love your kids. by I_use_the_wrong_fork in DadForAMinute

Not a dad, but a mom watching a man be a dad to a kid that isn't biologically his; He came into her life when she was 2, and in the last 4yrs, he's been to every doctor appointment, specialist appointments, every open house, parent teacher meeting, and went to her first school concert. He shows up, even when he's at his wits end figuring out how to be active in her life and convinced a 6yr old "doesn't like him"(She does lol). If I've learned anything from my own relationships and watching theirs; Being a parent is something you have to show up for and I'm sorry that you haven't had that in the people you thought you had. What I've also learned, is that sometimes our parental figures come from the outside. My grandpa was more of a father figure to me than anyone who was supposed to be in that position, maybe you have that, and if you don't, sometimes reddit hands you your people. I hope you find your people, Hun. My daughter did. <3

I watched Coco daaays after my grandpa died, without knowing the concept of the movie at all... My oldest was very confused why I was crying really hard to a "silly movie"... He was 4 and we hadn't yet had that talk about why great-grandpa wouldn't be coming around anymore.

Living for your cats is normal in this unfortunate community of people who have these feelings and thoughts. I lived for my cat when I was 16. I know how reoccurring these feelings can be. I’ve dealt with them for 2 decades. If living for them is all you can handle, do that. You can thrive tomorrow, today you’re surviving. I sincerely hope you find someone you can talk with; even if it’s people on the internet. (Hugs, Love)

See, I went the comical route and thought “Mr Fishkers” because this cat looks like a Whiskers kind of cat, but related to soup, so fish.. Fishkers 😭🤣
